Greatest ever Film books....?

#1 Post by reeceindie » Thu Feb 13, 2014 4:28 pm

I apologize if a similar thread already exists but...
What are the greatest film-related books for Film buffs...?

Mark Cousins - The story of Film
Danny Peary - Cult Movie series.
Easy Riders, Raging Bulls.
Scenes from a Revolution.
and, of course, the Psychotronic Video/Film Guide.

Willam Goldman - Adventures in the screen trade
A horse walks into a bar and the bartender asks, "Why the long face?"

A pony walks into the bar and whispers, "I'll have a beer, please." The barkeeper asks, "Why are you whispering?".
"I'm a little hoarse."

Can I turn this on its head and say as most books are better than films - the worst was The Deer Hunter - the film blew the book clean out of the water..... apologies :)

Purchased a Cineworld Card, so I'm seeing a lot less free films as i am not travelling as far to see them.

I used to b*y a lot of Film books but ultimately its a magazine called Sight and Sound that really invigorates my thirst for knowledge on classic movies, latest releases and the goings on in the film industry. It has been around since the 1930s. Thats a serious film buff periodical, I thoroughly recommend a subscription to. Empire magazine is the more popcorn mag (which I love too!).

Sorry I am not naming books though because the last time I b*ght one was over a decade ago, so quite outdated now.
My film reviews here . ......My FMUK 2014 ratings.......My FMUK 2011 ratings.......My FMUK 2013 ratings . ......My FMUK 2012 ratings .
