Big Hero 6
I'm pleased to report that this more than lived up to my (rather high) expectations & ended being something really rather special.
Admittedly I did get a 'The Incredibles' flavoured flashback now & then but this film definitely had it's own tale to tell (which occasionally went to some relatively dark places) plus a genuine ace up it's sleeve with the character Baymax.
The animation was top notch, the story moved along at an enjoyably brisk pace and the characters were all relatively three dimensional (no pun intended) & likeable.
Overall I thought this was a supremely entertaining animated adventure and it did more than enough to get a 9/10 from me...

Re: Big Hero 6
I too saw this yesterday with my unlimited card and absolutely LOVED it.
San Fransokyo is my dream city, its everything a city needs with all the beauty of rolling hills and cherry trees, yes please!
Hiro is a quirky little kid with a brain as big as Stephen Hawking when it comes to robotics.
He dreams to join the 'Nerd School' along with his brother and so joins the showcase with his incredible Nanobots. He is instantly offered a place but the excitement is short lived as a fire breaks out and his creation destroyed.
Hiro hesitantyly becomes aquainted with Baymax. A healthcare robot designed by his brother, who ends up leading him to a mystery villain in a voodoo mask who has...Hiro's Nanobots.
Driven by revenge, he 'upgrades' Baymax with hilarious consequences and he and his friends attempt to bring down the Voodoo Masked Man.
This is possibly my new favourite Disney film. Baymax is hilarious and adorable for a robot with limited facial responses, the action doesnt let up and the sound track for this film fits it perfectly(I've already downloaded Fall Out Boy's Immortals track).
Lots of super hero battles, explosions and science stuff to keep everyone happy, Big Hero 6 will definitely be one worth seeing this year again and again

Re: Big Hero 6
Saw this as a Cineworld preview with my unlimited card last weekend and really enjoyed it. Impressively animated and told with a lot of humour and heart. Baymax is also a wonderful character despite the lack of facial expressions.
If the super villain angle feels a little like an afterthought then that's par for the course for an origin story like this. Besides it's a minor flaw in what is an otherwise highly entertaining, fun film.
Oh and stick around after the end credits for a glorious comic book related cameo hinted at during the film.
Don't get there late either as the short Feast that plays before it is quite cute too. A short that manages to tell the story of one man's love life through the depiction of the voracious appetite of his Boston Terrier all in six minutes. Wonderful.

Re: Big Hero 6
Saw this today at a packed Manchester screening in one of the larger screens and thought it was good.
The first hour is charming and funny and I'd have been happy to have watched a full film of Hiro and the wonderful Baymax getting to know each other and having small adventures. Unfortunately as with most superhero films the action slowly takes over and the last half hour could have been lifted straight out of any number of Marvel films.
And speaking of Marvel
Also, try not to watch the trailer as quite a lot of the jokes are in there. Worth seeing, but definitely not worth it's Oscar nomination above The Lego Movie 8/10

Re: Big Hero 6
I actually thought this was mediocre at best. To be honest I couldn't stay awake (and I did have a perfect sleep last night). It was just...well...a bit boring.
I really couldn't get my head around the Japanesiness of it, and at times it seemed to be a Japanese made film that had been dubbed rather than an American movie. At this point I am going to be overwhelmed with replies telling me that Hero is indeed a comic book character brought to the big screen and that he always was Japanese etc. Hey - I'm ignorant. So sue me.
I was seeing this as a test run before taking little people next week with a competition win. The jury is still out as to whether they'll like it.

Don't want to give the plot away but the title of the film makes sense by the end of the movie.raj101 wrote:why is he number 6? Have I missed out on the previous five surreptitious movie releases?
