Back from not a full but busy Glasgow screening.

Personally I really enjoyed it even though it is aimed at people far younger than me. It does have the feeling of other better films in it like Gremlins, Jumanji and to me Casper. However I didn't really care as it was just a fun, partly scary and cheesy way to spend a hour and 40 or so minutes of your life. Good job we didn't see it in 3D as most of the film was pretty dark.

Watch out for the real R.L. Stine the author of the Goosebumps books who has a wee cameo in the film

Edinburgh was about 65% full.
A few tiny kids. The one next to me had his coat over his head for quite a large part of it but his Dad enjoyed the film!
I'm guessing it's aimed at 10 years+?
I enjoyed it. Jack Black was very good in it and played a different role to his norm.
Loads of silly things in it and it fun stretch the imagination but all in a good way.
I'd had a Rubbish day at work which ended with a bad long call I just got off at 6, so this really took my mind off that and helped me get back to normal.
No swearing, a nice change!
Enjoyed this.
7/10 from me and yes, good cameo!

It seems to me there hasn't really been a family film like this for years. Not really suitable for young kids admittedly, but both I and my 11 year old really enjoyed it.
Never trust a garden gnome...

The "characters escape from books" plot reminded me a little of Inkheart. It wasn't as good as that but had plenty of laughs, Champ providing most of them.

The audience tonight was pretty unruly, arriving late, stamping up and down and across and talking throughout. ZoeBanfield and I gave each other LOOKS, and I might have made some throttling gestures.

Lovely to meet PXC and Bevvy too!

P.S. Why would a fairground that has been abandoned for years still have working lights?

Enjoyed this too! Creepy, weird but fun. Never heard of the Goosebumps books so did not know what was in store, but thought Jack Black was funny and I loved the adventure of one mad night when the monsters are inadvertently released from his books. The puppet is really scary, as well as the gnome army, but the comic bits, lightens the tone of the scarier bits. There is also one yukky bit! Just couldn't look! Euurgh! 8/10

My friend had to tell someone off in our row to stop looking at his phone!

I had been looking forward to this all day and I wasn't disappointed.
I was expecting it to be a little scarier than a kids film and it certainly was aimed at over 12s.
I'm sure I recognised Zack from somewhere but can't place him.
Anyone else think that Jack Black was channeling Stewy Griffin in his accent? Lol.
Who else thought the ventrilquist dummy looked like Jimmy Carr? Ha.

It's already been said but since I thought it at the time too I'm saying it too - Gremlins meets Jumanji but for the Tenies (is that the right word? Nineties, Noughties, Tenies, Twenties?)

A healthy 6/10.
Not a classic, but good fun. Wonder if there is a Goosebumps 2 in it?

And Slappy was definitely the bizarre offspring of Jimmy Carr and Richard Osman.

Had touches of Jumanji, which is no bad thing as always loved that film.

A good old fashioned type of movie and not for the teenies. A couple of parents did leave with theirs which was a sensible decision.

Jack Black was great and loved Champ... looked like my Hubby's cousin and he said the same when I asked him ( As a child that is...he is 53 now)

All in all a good nights entertainment. 7/10

Grandkids really liked this film and are now keen to read the books.
But 8 year old was frightened in places, even though she isn't at all frightened by Gremlins!
