Pride and Prejudice and Zombies

#1 Post by prettyxcool » Tue Feb 09, 2016 12:30 am

A Top Man screening at Cineworld Haymarket tonight. It's been a while since I have been here. A good turnout of FMUKers too.

On each seat was a Top Man Tote bag, containing a Canowater with a resealable ring pull and a packet of Metcalfe's skinny popcorn.

Zany humour, action and romance. What's not to enjoy? A very talented cast, makes this a joy to watch. Lily James and Sam Riley makes a good Elizabeth Bennett and Mr Darcy. I loved the way they intermingle the zombies apocalypse with Jane Austen's tale of the five Bennett sisters, who have been highly trained to fight against the undead. Brilliant story. 8/10

The Q&A was good fun too, with Douglas Booth (Mr Bingley), and Alex Zane is getting more confident in his role, and is now much more entertaining as the host.

Was the Q&A actually at Haymarket? I missed the start as we weren't told about it.

I actually quite enjoyed this.
It was funny, modern and numerous in a period setting. Bizarrely. I think it could have Achieved all of that without the zombies which really added very little to the film!
Yes it was silly, but it was fun.
We left at the Q&A which came on the big screen in Edinburgh afterwards so we could make it to the Lobster!
An eclectic evening!

7/10

I quite enjoyed the film, the Bennett sisters were amazing. It was very good how they introduced the zombies into the story. Worth a view if you like zombies, humorous in places. Was very loud in certain bits which made you jump.
Overall an enjoyable night out.
7/10

Any chance you could resize that picture please, PXC? It makes the writing tiny!

Yes, it was on our tickets, then told at the intro and then told during the credits, to stop people leaving, and was also told that there was a live feed to other cinemas.

The projection was so dark at lowly Cineworld that if a lot of characters were on screen at once you couldn't make out who was stood at the end, the action scene in the basement was just a flash of vague movement.

I felt like the movie jumped around a lot, maybe 5 or 6 distinct storylines were too many, assume they wanted to cram everything in from the book but it hurt the movie.

So off topic a bit is it me or the calibre of SFF FREE preview attendees
More and more are texting /playing games on their mobiles, you're watching the film and a flicker of light distracts you.
I prefer the event when security tell you before you enter to TURN YOUR MOBILE OFF, So last night texting under jacket on his lap,
So yes when FILM I p*y for but SFF events are far the worst....

OK likes the film and I must say this would go down well with Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter.

So in early january I heard about Pride and Prejudice and Zombies not knowing a thing about it
After googling then Youtubing II stumbled on Pride and Prejudice and Zombie: Dawn of the Dreadfuls
for which there is a trailer:

There is a youtube video short to promote the BOOK from what I gather it stars Cameron Cash and Anabella Casanova
It's Quirky and strictly for over 15 only :nono:
So not for anyone born in this millennium
Pride and Prejudice and Zombie: Dawn of the Dreadfuls here is the link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S1JdPvyy93I
