Yup, that's the whole page alright.

Very much in the vein of everything so far, like the LFF, clearly by the time it comes to England, we just go with the flow.

And how does Avatar have great cinematography and production design, and yet Up doesn't get a nod there, same thing, lots of computers.

Well how is Jeff Bridges nominated when the film, Crazy Heart isn't out yet? I never understand the rules...
And I noticed Sandra Bullock's been snubbed for Best Actress. I think the race for best actress for the oscars isn't quite so clearcut as for the other categories just yet. As much as I liked Meryl Streep and all her films, I don't think her performance in Julie and Julia is up there with her very best (but thats more to do with the film).

I think the release of the film has to be before March or so, not sure when The Blind Side is out over here still.

So the BAFTA members, are they watching those films at BAFTA screenings and/or sent special DVDs, either way I thought the rules are at least the film should be out by the time the nominations come out!

Here's the rules for eligibility from the BAFTA website.

Eligibility
Films must be released theatrically in the UK, within the Academy awards year:
1 January to 31 December 2009. Films that open between 1 January and 19 February 2010 inclusive may be 'qualified' by Distributors by being screened to Academy Film Voting Members by Thursday 17 December 2009.

To be eligible, a feature film must:

be feature-length, i.e. with a running time exceeding 60 minutes;
receive its first public exhibition or distribution in the UK as a theatrical release;
be exhibited publicly to a p*ying audience within a commercial cinema in the UK for no fewer than seven consecutive days.

Not sure how Crazy Heart fits those rules. As it's out on the 18th February (according to IMDB) I'm not sure how it qualifies for the 'seven consecutive days' rule. Has it had a limited release in a commercial cinema anywhere?
