Hot Tub Time Machine

#1 Post by a_person » Mon Apr 19, 2010 8:45 pm

Did nobody post this? I can't find it in the search or first couple of pages unless I'm going blind.

Four guy friends, all of them bored with their adult lives, travel back to their respective 80s heydays thanks to a time-bending hot tub.

When I saw the Time Out comp, I looked this up on IMDB and thought it sounded worth seeing, but had I gone by the trailer alone (which I saw tonight, before Date Night), I'd definitely have marked it down as one to avoid! Why do trailers so often do the film a disservice? I still want to see it, but despite the trailer, not because of it!

I'd like to see this because I love the 80s. Oh, the song in the trailer is one of my favourite songs from the 80s. :D

I kinda watched it online cos I couldn't wait any longer, comic time travel films are manna to me, and this is brilliant, I can't wait to see it many times in the cinema, it's absolutely hysterical, just brilliant, and the premise is so silly it works.

Let's see whether any of us gets any of the 700 pairs (that's 1,400) of tickets Time Out is dishing out - surely the odds are that at least a few should come our way?

I don't even remember the trailer having songs. What was it? And am I the only person who doesn't think the 80's were that long ago?

Ah, the 80s - the time of my misspent youth. Sigh.

"You spin me round (like a record)" from Dead or Alive.
I was a kid during the 80s. I guess that's why I think it was a long time ago.

Ah. I think I must have been too busy thinking "Who are these people?" and "What on earth is this film?" before it dawned on me that it must be Hot Tub Time Machine. And I hadn't even recognised John Cusack, despite knowing he was in it!
