Re: TV Series: Discuss, Review, Anticipate, and Wotnot
It is barely a fantasy, according to OH it is 90% historical and 10% fantasy. We watched it yesterday and poor thin was so excited, I thought he would explode at one point, I need to ask him if his mouth is hurting from the intensive smiling...
I liked it as well, even though I haven't read the books, you can tell HBO invested a lot of their time and money in it.

It feels more like a fictional medieval story rather than fantasy.
I'm surprised Mr Glass hasn't posted his review yet, I know he was excited about seeing this...

Yeah I liked the first episode. Still thought it was a little difficult to keep track of everyone and what they were up to but I got enough of it. Will definitely carry on and see how it goes. Plenty of beheadings, blood and incest. Lovely stuff.

I plan to watch all 4 seasons of The Tudors on Blu Ray very soon... I should probably warn the neighbours to prepare for the effects...valda wrote:All I can say is 'its lucky a certain young man isn't in it or you both would have spontaneously combusteddenichka wrote:It is barely a fantasy, according to OH it is 90% historical and 10% fantasy. On a separate note, I am catching up on so many tv shows, I love it. It's always more enjoyable when you watch a few episodes in a row from the same show. To be honest, I expected The Big Bang Theory and Modern Family to be funnier. Tomorrow Nikita and The Borgias. The Vampire Diaries is almost over

Re: TV Series: Discuss, Review, Anticipate, and Wotnot
I tried watching Modern Family and really didn't get the hype. Very few laughs. As much as I love the American version of The Office even that's going a bit stale now (and will probably get much staler now Steve Carrell has left). I'm finding it very difficult to find any other US comedies I like.

David, I strongly recommend you watch 'Community'.
It is a US comedy that, for some reason, was shown on a UK channel I've never heard of called Viva. Such a poor treatment of a prime quality show. If you can, I would suggest you watch it online. It is truly a brilliant show.

I've been meaning check out Community. I'm a big fan of Donald Glover who I know plays Troy in it. He's also an amazing rapper (Childish Gambino) and I'm a big fan of his music. Very talented guy. Actor, rapper, sitcom writer, standup, DJ, can sing too! It doesn't seem fair.
