As usual I got the generic "we received too many applications to bother giving you feedback" email so I dont know what grounds, yet they included a few websites for volunteering to develop experience(so its probably on the grounds I dont have any)
Theres 3 cinemas near me, might give them a bash I suppose, after being rejected by McDonalds what have I got to lose?

Welcome to the world of 'you are over qualified for the simple jobs and under qualified for all the others'... In other words you can never win with them... Lasted almost 2 years for me [I did have temporary jobs during that time though, not all the time, but still... on that note - try short term (up to 1 week at a time) temporary reception jobs, they p*y better than longer term (a couple of months) temporary jobs, I used to get £8.5 ph + holiday p*y] , but there is a light at the end of the tunnel, hang on there! Try all the job boards and keep the faith and hope!

P.S. My OH got rejected a few weeks back from the dogiest game shop in Streatham that was p*ying below national minimum. And he has both an undergraduate and graduate degree. So I do feel your pain.

Don't be disheartend, they probably had loads of applications and took someone who used to work at Burger King!

Application filling is an art, p*y most attention to the Person Specification rather than the Job Description when completing the application and make sure you find something to cover every point possible.

Hope you find something soon. Good Luck!
Preferred Cinema's now Paignton or Exeter!
