I usually go to one tv or radio show recordings a week and it really depends where you got your tickets from as to the procedure
your always gonna have turn up at least an hour before the recording starts, radio shows usually take up to a couple of hours, tv shows about 3+ depending on how used to being on tv their presenters / guests are, the more inexperienced they are the more pick ups they'll need to do at the end

sro audiences - overbook but not massively as long as your there by the door opening time advised on the tickets your usually fine ive only had a friend turned away once, and he arrived last minute

bbc tickets - never seen a full studio, think they only give out as many tickets as seats so you can leave it until the last entry time, radio shows nearly always have empty seats

applause store - not worth the effort for their more popular shows, unless your willing to queue for at least two hours, they overbook by about 1000%, and even their guaranteed priority tickets aren't actually guarantedd if you dont turn up hours early - i would say just avoid them completely TBH

Ive never wanted to see any of lostintvs shows so not been through them, i prefer going to comedy radio and tv panel shows as see it as a free night of comedy

obviousally the more popular show the more people turn up so the earlier you need to arrive

Both the shows are through lostintv and despite initially stating tickets would be posted one week before the show I have been emailed e-tickets which I print off.
It also states:

This is your E-TICKET for 4 people. Please print a copy of this ticket and bring it along with you on the day. Should you not be able to print it, we WILL have your name on the door, so don't worry. Please bring some form of ID to check in with.

Terms and conditions do state 'this ticket is NOT A GUARANTEE OF ENTRY'

Anyhow, I shall turn up on the early side and thanks once again for all your advice.

Hi, when i went I got there between an hour and an hour an half early. There was probably already 20-25 people in front of us, we didn't want to get there and then get turnt away x hope is of help, and u have a great time x

I've been to see Paul O'Grady twice, once with Priority and once with normal tickets. The evening shows only take an hour to record because its live on TV, the lunchtime recordings take about 1.5-2 hours because they stop for retakes. I would get there at least an hour early, the first time I went with normal tickets to the evening show and got there 2 hours early there was a massive queue for the priority tickets because they messed up the tickets at lunchtime and then gave everyone priority for the evening show, so hardly anyone got in from the normal queue!! we just made it and we'd been waiting 2 hours!!! I agree I definitely wouldn't bother with Applause Store, but I've been to a few shows with SRO audiences and they've always been good.

Well....I couldn't make Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, which is actually the second time I've had tickets for that but not been able to attend.

.....On to Paul O'Grady which was yesterday.
Set off nice and early, Mrs and me got a bus to Victoria (only £5 return at the moment on Greenline bus from St Albans)
It's a great sightseeing walk of London from there to the TV studio. Buckingham Palace (big crowds because of changing the guards) strolled through St James park, trotted through Horse Guard Parade (bring on the beach volley ball ) Into Whitehall and past Downing Street.
Whizzed past Westminster Abbey, Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament and crossed the Thames.Then it was along the South Bank past the London eye onto the London studios.

We got there about 11:45, 45mins before doors opened ( not early enough according to you guys)
There were two queues, one for Loose Women and one for Paul O'Grady according to the woman we asked. As it turned out the other queue was the priority queue. Anyhow, after 15mins this guy came along doing a rough head count and went past us by about 20 people and told them they would probably not get in (Fools! should have got there earlier)
12:30 we started to go in, well nearly, queue stopped and guy who did head count said they were seeing how many seats were left. There were now about 30 people in front of us. After a few more minutes he let some more in. We now had just 8 people in front of us. Guy came out again, and said there were just two singles left.
And that was that!
Why didn't anyone warn me to get there early!!

The Guy was quite helpful and told us (and the 50+ people behind us) that if we phoned LostinTV they should give us priorty tickets for another show.
Now do I really want to see Paul O'Grady...

We actually got home at 5PM just in time to see the Paul O'Grady Show on TV.....We hadn't missed much.

Still, had a great day around town. Oh, and while we were in the queue the one and only Mr Martin Lewis walked past and I grabbed a quick blurry snap of him on his phone before he got scooted off.

Last year I went to Martin Lewis' show on Five (what was the name again?) which was shot in Whiteleys and had to take half a day off for it but it was a nice experience. I have no idea how people find the time generally to go to such shows, that's probably why you see a lot of pensioners in the audience.
But at least you had a nice outing in London!

The bus journey was actually full of pensioners, all making the most of their bus passes.

You can actually turn up to most TV recordings (other than BBC ones) without any e-ticket and as long as you are there early and don't mind queueing you will get in without any checks being made. They just want an audience.
