My angel was a foster cat too :D then we took her home because the foster woman we got her from had taken on a ridiculously cute cat! But because of Angels background before she got rescued, all she wanted to do was try to kill it :shifty: But shes a lovely cat when shes not anywhere near others :P

I just got in touch with my local one (Junction Road, Archway), visited them and told them I would be interested in helping them. Basically, they “collect” (sorry, I realised this is probably not the right word in English!) stray cats and previously “owned” cats and put them back for adoption.
They need fosters to take care of them temporarily when they are sick, on diet (I had some of those as well, I will post pictures and stories later  ) or not ready yet to be re-homed.

(I am speaking now for the charity I foster for)
They usually try to foster 2 cats at the same time and put them for adoption together as well.
Logistically, you first received a charity worker at your home to check your motivations and if your home is acceptable to receive cats; then the charity add you to the list of fosters and contact you whenever they have cats to place. They provide you with food, toys, bedding and litter. You just have to agree to bring the cats to the designated vet (free) when the cats need to see the vet and to love them as much as you can :D
That sounds like such a wonderful cause - thanks for the explanation! Once I moved house I'm going to look into this :D My only worry is that I'll get attached to cats but then I won't see again after those few weeks or months I care for them :( Have you found this a problem?

Everyone here seems to have cats (or a robot ) so I'll add my two doggies.

The Yorkshire Terrier is Sophie (ignore the bobble it was right before her hair cut and if you don't fasten it back it goes in her eyes and she can't see a thing) who for some reason looks really mardy in this picture! The Labrador is Sammy. My mum found her walking the streets and to cut a long story short her owners couldn't cope with working full time and having a dog so we ended up taking her in.

This is funny, this is what everybody says when I speak about cat fostering!
This is something that you have to be very aware of when you start fostering but I have never found it to be a problem (yet).

Many thanks Sasha. I'll tell Paddy who kicked off Pets Corner.
