you would be surprised... they do!

Edit: and I don't think it's reasonable on a long term basis to p*y £600 just for just your rent... but who am I, right ;)

hahahahaaaa, this is true, a little less true since the crisis though!
now that you have to give at least a 10% deposit.

Something you will also find is a landlord renting his/her "modified" 2 bedroom-flat, that basically consist in 1 bedroom and the landlord living in the living room :tears:

One tip for being able to have people stay at yours if you only have one bedroom is a sofa bed in the living room - it's absolutely invaluable if you have guest coming.

I was actually thinking of just sleeping on the couch myself and offering my bedroom :D Or if it's a double bed, problem solved. But as it is I don't even have access to a living room and my own bedroom is too tiny for an extra mattress :/

who am I to tell you it's not reasonable ;)
(you are an adult, you probably know better than me if you can afford p*ying £600 a month)

I wasn't sure if you meant it'd was too expensive for my budget or if I was aiming too low with the prices for London ;)

I know it's a large part of my income and I rather not spend that much, obviously, but I'm good at saving my money and don't spent it on anything but rent, travel costs, food and occassional gifts for my family. I have some of my Dutch savings still in case of emergency, so I think I'd be able to manage. That is if I even can find anything within that price range in London O_O Mind I much rather aim around £500 a month, but I now I need to be reasonable.

£500 is definitely doable for a flatshare (with 2 or 3 others), most likely from zone 3 and up ;)
that would mean at least £123.70 of monthly travelcard on top of your rent!

I'm currently in zone 3 and yes the travelcard is expensive indeed! Not sure if I could live further out though as it already takes me an hour to get to work (though a different connection might be in my favour)
