Blimey got to the O2 cinema at 5.45 and was able to go in almost immediatelt as my friend got there earlier and was near the front of the queue (I had the ticket so I wasn't pushing in :P) and there were already loads of people inside! They must've started letting peopel in not too long after 5...

Anyway, I am not a fan of superhero movies or war movies but surprisingly I really enjoyed this one. Spent the first half of the movie trying to spot actors I knew (and still missed half of them that I didn't realise were in it until I saw the end credits) and thought the story behind Captain America was really great (though super skinny Chris Evans made me giggle). I didn't know anything about the character before going in but thought it was nice to have a genuine nice superhero character for once and his shield was made of win. Wasn't a big fan of how the bad guy ended up looking (I don't like those over the top crazy figures, but then I guess that's comic books for you) but other than that really enjoyed it.

8/10

And I absolutely loved the Avengers trailer we got shown (though it was very brief) and very much looking forward to that movie now. Though it does mean I have to watch all the other movies released so far (Iron Man, Thor, etc) as I haven't seen any of them yet...

I have to agree with soonforgotten: it was quite strange to hear Australian and American actors talk English in a heavy German-sounding accent. I don't talk anything like that.

No, it was definitely supposed to be his dad. Not that he looked like John Slattery much.

This is where my lack of Marvel comic-knowledge really shows: Ironman's father? I think I just realise the connection I missed during the film. Duh.

That's kind of weird then. How old was he meant to be there, 30? If The Avengers takes place 70 years later, that means he was born 100 years prior. So how old was he when he had Tony? Because Tony can't be meant to be more than mid 40s at oldest for The Avengers, right?
102 Different free films seen in 2010 plus 2 repeat viewings and a few tv show screenings... not too shabby. Thanks to everyone for their contributions here.

I thought he was Iron Man as I remembered that guy was also called Stark, d'uh. Thankfully my friend brought me up to speed afterwards about all the tie ins this movies had to the other Marvel ones released so far.

The original comics were from the 1970's and that's where the father/son age relationship makes sense.
