What is your favourite horror film?

#1 Post by andrews » Fri Sep 25, 2009 8:34 pm

I hate horror films. I absolutely hate them. As a child, I hid behind the settee when Dr Who was on. I have too vivid an imagination and am frightened to death by horror films. That said, I did see The Mist last year, and a thriller called Donkey Punch, which I considered to be horrific.
However I realise that many people love this genre of film, so here's a poll just for you. Which of the films are you going to vote for? You may have two votes, because I'm good to you. I'm so generous, you can come back later and change your mind, if you wish. :D
If your all time favourite horror film is not included in my list, tell us what your favourite is.

That's a great list Andrews, but as good as it was I don't think Shaun Of The Dead should be here.
How about Blair witch project?

OK f3lix, I'll just go and change that. Will you vote then? ;)

That's it - no more changes - I'm just too good to you! :D

I've voted for Dawn of the Dead but my favourite one is not on the list - from Dusk till Dawn
which is really over the top (which I love) and also stars the fabulous Mr Clooney!

With Bevvy - Dusk till Dawn is a goody.

Hope the Haunting is the old Black and White one. All the spookyness is off screen, you never really get to 'see' anything but the tension just builds and is brilliant. The terror is what you create in your own mind.

I do find the 'american' style of horror - in your face stuff can be (for me I admit) boringly over done. I just come to expect the CGI, Blood spatter etc.

Am I alone in thinking that I could have merrily slain the girl myself in Blair Twitch?

personaly prefer the psycological terror/horror ones.

Me too! But I used to keep asking my younger brother what was happening. In the end I was banned from watching it because it gave me nightmares. My brother didn't half crow!

So I have certainly never seen a horror film; other films, though, can catch you out by being unexpectedly horrific in places.

I voted Psycho and the Exorcist because both of them made me laugh. Psycho was a good film. I haven't yet found a film that really scares me. I guess that's because I know they are nothing but films. I don't really like horror films with human torture because that just really disgusts me or amputating people's body, that's not scary, it's just disgusting!

By the way why was The Blair Witch Project scary? I watched it but I didn't understand and still don't understand what on it was supposed to be scary. Anyone can enlighten me please?

Oh no, I didn't see the Shining on the list!! That was definitely so funny. Especially the scene were he breaks down the door and sticks his face through. That definitely has my vote too.

I voted Dawn of The Dead and Alien but I really loved The Mist. I'm the worst at deciding my favourite anything.
