I saw this new trailer today - enjoyed it! The scenery was beautiful. I think it's going to be a light-hearted film, which will appeal to a lot of people. The lead lady is Nia Vardalos, who starred in My Big Fat Greek Wedding.
We will be treated to a gorgeously-photographed tour of some of the country's most spectacular sights including the rarely filmed (at least in mainstream movies) Acropolis.

Plot:
Georgia's love life and career have hit a wall in America, so she takes a trip to her ancestral home of Greece and gets a job as a tour guide on a rickety bus in Athens. Her insistence on spouting off endless historical facts tends to bore the tourists, however, and she becomes the least-popular guide and the target of a ruthless competitor. But as she navigates her way through the ruins of the country and her own life, she manages to find new friends, a new outlook and romance where she least expected it.

Although the film is called Driving Aphrodite here in the UK, in the US, it's called My Life in Ruins.

Not long to wait for this now, as it opens on Friday. So presumably no previews, unfortunately. I had quite forgotten about Nia Vardalos - wonder what she has been doing since "Greek Wedding"?

The trailer only stated that it was 'coming soon' - I didn't realise that it was Friday. I think it will give the Greek Tourist Industry a further boost.

Yes, and October is a good time to go to Greece as it's warm but not too hot. Mind you, as you saw "The Guardian" yesterday, you will presumably have seen the article about films ruining certain tourist destinations. This film was cited, as was "Mamma Mia"!

The price to p*y for having a movie location in your country, or city. We were swamped up here in Durham and Alnwick following the first Harry Potter film - everyone wanting to know where the scenes were shot. I think the Greeks are pretty much used to tourists at the Acropolis, although I think we are no longer allowed as close as we were previously.

Off-topic (apologies - perhaps we need a thread for film locations as tourist destinations?), but not having read or seen any Harry Potters, I had no idea about Alnwick and Durham being involved. What a good thing I visited them beforehand.
