I'm sorry, but that is just insane. I hope that wasn't the main reason for you to come to London.ace wrote:The wife and I booked a couple of nights in London around this screening and were really looking forward to it. We flew down from Glasgow on the Thursday afternoon and by the time we checked into our hotel, managed to make it for about 6:45pm to find it queued right round the block. When the queue started moving we got as far as the resturant on the corner (after about 1hr), when we were informed it was full. Got our break of to a poor start, managed to get a couple of tickets for 'Ghost Stories' at the Duke of Yorks Theatre on the Friday night so not a total loss. Will email Jameson Cult Club and hope they take note of film fans who travel a fair distance (and expense) to get to their events.

Re: Monsters
102 Different free films seen in 2010 plus 2 repeat viewings and a few tv show screenings... not too shabby. Thanks to everyone for their contributions here.

Re: Monsters
Hi Soonforgotten,
Not the only reason for the trip, but scheduled the rest of the trip round it, as the event sounded good - especially liked the idea of visiting the museum.
However managed to do The London Bridge Experience, HMS Belfast, London Tower Experience, River Boat Cruise, The London Eye (only queued for 5 mins at 11am on Saturday) and a very entertaining show at Duke of Yorks - 'Ghost Stories'. Plus a couple of nights kids free, so all in all a very good break.

Re: Monsters
I received a package from the Jameson Cult Film Club yesterday.
The accompanying letter stated:
“Thank you for coming along to Jameson Cult Film Club screening of ‘Monsters’. We sincerely apologise that you were turned away from out event. We had a much higher than expected turn out. We use attendance figures at previous Jameson Cult Film Club events to gauge numbers and this event was more popular than previous events. We sincerely apologise that you could not get in and would like to make it up to you.
Please find attached ‘Monsters’ DVD and a bottle Jameson for you and your friends to enjoy responsibly.”
Enclosed was a ½ bottle of Jameson and the Monster DVD with the 3D cover – the enclosed invoice/receipt said that the DVD had cost £9.97.

Oh what a great present! They obviously think it is best watched when drinking alcohol.
And they have no way of knowing who was turned away, right? So some people may have seen the film and got the DVD for free?
