Better Film Choice In The Back Of Beyond

#1 Post by Ms Thrifty » Mon Jun 22, 2009 9:16 pm

Just been away for a few days and was surprised (and envious) to see what a good choice of films there was in a small French town with a tiny one-screen cinema. They were showing 3 or 4 films per week, including "Coco Avant Chanel" and the new Almodovar, i.e. brand new releases. If only I'd known in time, I could have seen them there! I was also interested to note that the French title for "The Boat That Rocked" is "Good Morning England", which doesn't make much sense. Yet other titles (c.f. "Looking For Eric") they don't bother translating.

Perhaps a nod to 'Good Morning Vietnam'?
I once went hiking with M. C. Escher. It was uphill all the way there and uphill all the way back.

Yes, of course, it could be. But how many French people would make the connection? And what a shame they couldn't come up with a title that plays on words as the original does - especially if they were going to stick with English!
