Hmm, strange. I thought I'd have plenty of chances to see it!

I'm always shocked at the price of London cinema tickets (although I'm pretty much shocked at cinema prices in general!) - weekend evenings here are about the same price as London's weekday matinees! I really wish I still had my student card!

It's the fact that I can p*y less in London which really bugs me. Yes, I have to p*y a fare on top, but I can do lots of other things while I'm there (e.g. see more films!) which makes it worth it. Maybe wait for the DVD?

I've only just caught up with this - it's disappearing from cinemas so the DVD must be due soon. I had been looking forward to it but was very disappointed and frankly, I wish I had waited for the DVD, though I suspect I would then have struggled to watch it all the way through. Given that the true story is so powerful, I can't understand why so melodramatic a treatment was chosen. So many visions, flashbacks, portentous remarks, glowering looks, etc, and a very intrusive soundtrack. I could only give it 6/10.

I was disappointed too - I thought the flashbacks were often quite confusing and it took a couple of minutes to work out if it was meant to be past or present (maybe that was just me!). I think it's beautifully done, but the subject isn't exactly laugh a minute and the film felt quite long, so I left the cinema feeling like I needed a big bar of chocolate to cheer myself up!

Strangely enough, I did have a big bag of Maltesers afterwards - perhaps we should start rating films on the type of food they make us feel we need after viewing!
