Re: Facebook
didn't you used to be able to have a butchers without being a member? it's got a lot tighter security wise, but it still astounds me how much info some people give out!!!

Re: Facebook
Ms Thrifty you crack me up!
I happen to be on FB and think it's a great way to keep in touch with people, but I have my privacy setting way up high. Not as addicted as I used to be... my FMUK addiction is much much worse...
I really think you should give it a go - just play around on your OH's page for a while. And you can make him set his privacy settings so that others can't see the photos unless he's friends with them.Ms Thrifty wrote:Am I right that you have to be a member to look at Facebook? Because I don't want to join, but to my horror, my OH has apparently got a page (most undignfied at his advanced age) and, worse still, has posted some photos of me on there - aargh!

No, I am not getting into that lark, so I won't be able to look at anything of OH's. But what I don't know, etc..

Re: Facebook
Facebook can be very useful for people of 'advanced age'. I am not a member myself but I did sign OH up for it (he hadn't a clue how to do it). He hasn't even bothered to put things on his page but our daughters can post the latest photos of the grandkids on his wall. Their friends have also requested to be his friend on facebook, which is a nice way of keeping in touch with the younger generation.Ms Thrifty wrote:Am I right that you have to be a member to look at Facebook? when my eldest gave birth earlier this year, videos of her partner cutting the cord and proudly holding his newborn son was on her sisters Facebook page within a couple of hours.
His mum, brother and sister who live in America were thrilled to be able to see this and were instantly able to post comments and messages back to the happy couple.

Re: Facebook
Yes I totally agree.. Facebook is a fab way of keeping in touch with people that you cant nip up the road to see.
I have practically witnessed my friends little girl in the Middle East growing up through Facebook pics and videos. However my mam joined up also last month so I had to quickly rush through my pics and delete any which showed my newish wrist tattoo...
(thank god she lives in Wales... going to b*y loads of bangles to cover it up for her visit next week.)

Re: Facebook
My mum'd spot it anyway and would be livid (as would OH actually), not that I'm ever going to get a tat...sarahjc78 wrote:(thank god she lives in Wales... going to b*y loads of bangles to cover it up for her visit next week.)
Anyway, I remembered a little neck scarf thing I had which I also wore around my wrist, gave a sort of rock-ish vibe... a back-up plan?

Re: Facebook
Is she actually staying with you? If so, she will get very suspicious if you are wearing bangles with your nightie first thing in the morning.sarahjc78 wrote: However my mam joined up also last month so I had to quickly rush through my pics and delete any which showed my newish wrist tattoo...

Depending on the size of the tattoo, a sticking plaster or one of those wrist support things might cover it up better, but then you would have to feign an injury.
If I were in your position, I might have welcomed her finding out about it on Facebook so that she would have calmed down about it by the time of her visit.
Speaking as a mum who is horrified every time her grown-up daughters express an interest in tattoos, I would welcome the chance to get used to the idea and get over it rather than have my negative reaction (despite the fact I fully accept that they are adults and it is really none of my business) potentially spoil the time we had together.

No thank god my mam is staying at her mums... it took me 2 weeks to tell her my boyfriend and I had b*ght a puppy. Wont be seeing her every day so a rock wrist scarf may be the way forward... if she sees it i'll tell her i have had it ages.... its not too bad (3 small daisys with some swirls to join them up) quite delicate.... not that my mam will see that.

Re: Facebook
I'm an adult but know that I will always be mum's little one in her eyes! Surely that never changes for any mums...and therefore it's your business anyway? Am lining things up for when I have kids one day...bevvy wrote:(despite the fact I fully accept that they are adults and it is really none of my business)
