The 3D is utterly pointless in this film.

Disney could probably re-release their films to the cinema and still attract audiences as children reach a suitable age for each.Beate wrote:The 3D is utterly pointless in this film.
They already restrict the release of dvds so they could re-release films without trying to add an extra like 3D just for the sake of it, and even worse, if it adds nothing.
Preferred cinemas: Best: Glasgow Quay, Glasgow Braehead, Glasgow Renfield Street, Glasgow Fort & Paisley
Others I'd go to: Glasgow Showcase Baillieston

There were about 3 beautiful 3D bits like the bird flying into the screen from the audience at the beginning.

Re: The Lion King (re-released in 3D)
I saw this today at the Odeon, MetroCentre, which was not full at all. We absolutely loved it. I enjoy the storyline and the soundtrack - fabulous. Great to see it on the big screen, after years on a TV screen - 3D or not!
(I think the adults slightly outnumbered the children today -
)
At least 8/10 from me.

Re: The Lion King (re-released in 3D)
I was at the slightly fuller Wimbledon screening this morning. Annoying kids behind kicking my seat. Annoying child a few seats away from me asking their mother inane questions every 5 mins.
Infant irritants aside I really enjoyed this. I still think the story is a little slight. The ending also seems a little rushed (it feels like there should be a few scenes of jeopardy between Simba's decision to return home and his final fight with Scar) particularly in comparison to the rather long drawn out beginning.
The animation is the thing though and it still looks glorious. The songs aren't too shabby either (Timon and Pumba's brief song to entice the hyena's is still hilarious).
As for the 3D, yes it was largely pointless but there were a handful of scenes that were actually quite effective. It doesn't need to be in 3D though.
Overall this is a worthy reissue that shows there is still an audience for more traditional quality animation. Now if only Warner Brothers could get their act together and re-release the true animation classic of the 90's, The Iron Giant (not in 3D).

Re: The Lion King (re-released in 3D)
Went to see this yesterday and it was a fab trip down the memory lane. Came out singing the cheesey songs :))
The cinema in Birmingham was almost packed with kids & parents and at times, I felt like I was sat in a middle of a jungle with all those noises around me. No, I am not talking about the movie now. And to be honest, the kids were the ones that behaved. It's the parents that showed (yet again) total disregard for other cinemagoers. They were all at it with their crunchy crisps & sweets, talking to each other, checking their phones & making calls.

Re: The Lion King (re-released in 3D)
Saw this at a nearly full Bournemouth Odeon and they put us in one of the bigger cinema rooms which was great. Here too it was like a kids playground but did not effect my enjoyment of the film, loved the 3D effects.Would'nt have wanted to be the cleaner after the film, popcorn everywhere.

Re: The Lion King (re-released in 3D)
A bit off-topic but I was actually reading on Twitter a few days ago that one of the cinemas was showing Iron Giant son. Of course I don't remember which one Tweeted it, maybe someone else does? I think it was Cineworld or Showcase if that helps at all.kevinknapman wrote:Now if only Warner Brothers could get their act together and re-release the true animation classic of the 90's, The Iron Giant (not in 3D).

I just looked at their privacy policy bit and there is an email address help@disney.co.uk or write at Disney Interactive Media Group Technical Operations, The Walt Disney Company Limited, London W6 9PE, England.Beate wrote:Does anyone have an email address for the Disney screenings? I can't find one and I have just written a very hacked off pamphlet I wish to send off.
