Belated, but saw this last week and was so much better than I thought it would be. Despite the subject and not having read the book, I suspected it might come out a little fluffy and chick lit esque - but no, it was pretty solid and any feel good aspects were well tempered with the reality of many different situations. The Emma Stone finally gets a boyfriend part was a bit thin, and didn't get what they did to her usually gorgeous hair but definitely not deal breakers. 8.5/10 from me.

Just seen this in Cineworld, Glasgow. Pretty full, a few spaces. RBS patrons still don't understand that these previews start dead on 18:30 so people were still arriving 20 minutes into the film looking for seats.

I really liked this film. The pace of the film setting the tone of it and every lead wonderfully acted out. OH was crying in parts and laughing in others. 8/10

A wonderful film, I was totally absorbed by the story right from the start.

It's at times uplifting, funny and sad, but also made me feel angry and sickened at times that such cruelty and ignorance existed in such recent history. I think someone else said about children being made to watch this, and they should, these things shouldn't be forgotten and consigned to the past.

The performances across the board were outstanding Minnie, Aibeleen and Hilly especially, er and Celia well near enough everyone, but I particularly liked the moment with Allison Janney sacking her maid and her later regret showing how society and convention can make what seemed a decent person do the cruelest of things.

Excellent, and a very brief 2 and a half hours.

* Good to see Diane65 again as well, despite her disguise!

I think I'll add this to my top ten for the year. Its filling up a lot faster this year!

Saw this at a reasonably full Bournemouth Odeon as it was the first Nat West freebee. Was'nt sure if this was going to be my sort of film but i have to say i loved it from start to finish. The story was good with some funny bits thrown in which kept you interested as its a long running film,mind you the time flew.

Good film - a lot funnier than i expected bearing in mind the topic. Thought it was gonna be harder hitting than it was. Seemed to have about 6 different endings so felt like it dragged it's heels a bit towards the end. I score it a generous 7/10 - definitely worth a watch

more emotional on this second outing. The actor who played Hilly definitely deserves an award for playing a bitch so well.
