Just back from the Help at Wester Hailes, really busy and you could have heard a pin drop when the film started.
Having read the book was really looking forward to the film and Skeeter Minnie and Abilene did not dissapoint. some parts of the film different from the book, but a job very well done. thought castings excellent and looking forward to my second screening next week

Thanks to my ticket fairies!!
9.5/10 from us

I'm scared to go against the overwhelming concensus, but I did much like this film. I can't say I enjoyed it nor would I be interested in seeing it again really. It is definitely a lady-film. I guess that's why it has been so received on here. Lol. It seemed very like Desperate Housewives to me and I hate that show. I do respect how well they told the story of that particular episode of American History.
There was a good amount of humour - chocolate pies and toilets on lawns etc. but although the cinema around me was chuckling frequently I didn't feel like joining in out loud.
I did find the different characters hard to distinguish - apart from Skeeter, Hilly and Mini - the rest seemed almost indistinguishable to me. I also agree that some of the dialogue was lost on me too.
I'm glad I saw it, but I just didn't like it as much as I'd hoped. Sorry.
Definitely glad I took my Mum to it though. Right up her street it was!

saw this at a packed out braehead last nite and it was a really good film a wee bit slow at the start but i suppose the story had to be told properly lol i didnt see the point though in the people that brought the small kids as they musta been really really bored although it was a 12a it defo wasnt a kids film. i thot the best bit was when they were eating the first nice bit of chicken and in the silence some guy gave a big loud mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm as though he wanted a bit to then be attacked by his mortified wife because of the uprooar of laughter at him lol pmsl

Really enjoyed the film. It is a chapter in American history that should not be forgotten and movies like this help to give prominence to the struggle of so many around the world even today.

Calm down, stuartboy!
We are all different and maybe fmukers who didn't fancy the film, didn't go. Hence, very few poor reviews.
I know they say for hotel reviews you should discount the 10% best & worst reviews and you are probably getting a fairer picture.
Preferred cinemas: Best: Glasgow Quay, Glasgow Braehead, Glasgow Renfield Street, Glasgow Fort & Paisley
Others I'd go to: Glasgow Showcase Baillieston
Films already booked for:
Hope to get tickets for: Every film if they come to my preferred cinemas

how about relating the current ethnic cleansing of the gypsies from Dale farm as a similar form of prejudice that happened in the Help in '60s.
is that controversial enough
