Im really annoyed that the Surprise screening from yesterday and today's is the same and we werent told way beforehand. I was under the impression they were different and was even ready to go tonight before i read this post. Thanks guy...really upset actually with bfi, kept ringing them and they seemed unaware of tonight's screening. Going to see Taking Woodstock instead now...

If you were told, then it wouldn't be a surprise would it now!! It probably shouldn't have been leaked out thats it's the same film, but I think a significant number of people might not want to see the film tonight.
I agree with whats been said before, this film is significantly different from whats been shown before, but I think we've been spoilt having had No Country for Old Men and then the Wrestler, It had become too predictable, whereas before It could be an action film, comedy,sci-fi, people now just expect some sort of oscar-calibre drama.
When I was there last night, the queue for returns was huge and abuzz with excitement. They always seem to expect some big "arthouse" film like The Curious Case of Benjamin Button or Harry Potter 7, it's never that, it's always something more left-field that you would not expect. (I think the only time I guessed correctly was last year).

The first film shouted out was "Where the wild things are" and people around me were talking about that film too. I am assuming this is the twitter or internet forum effect. Pretty soon it was clear that wasn't it, as Sandra Hebron said no one shouted out the correct film.
Even when the film started no one was sure what it was until the actual title came up. And personally I was disappointed, a documentary is quite different from a "film" film and the number of people interested in documentaries is much much lower. Worse Capitalism isn't the kind of film to "enlighten" people, a large part of the film revealed nothing insightful.
Sandra Hebron already said at the start the director's not present, so that resolved the possible anger at not getting a Q&A
Luckily the crowd was quite patient though, I think I only saw about 6 people walk out though and that was after 1hour. Although my friend really wanted to walk out, as he found Michael Moore's style most frustrating.
I must said it's been a weak festival so far this year.

Overall I would say it's been a good festival, some really interesting films and some really boring films as usual. However they really need to sort out the screenings at West End Vue. With customers jumping ahead of the VIPs for the escalators to leave, lack of Q&A for both screenings, the queuing system (was horrendous for A Serious Man, I was queuing in the normal entrance with ~100 people for 15 mins when the red carpet entrance was on the other side). Maybe they might move back to Odeon West End next year.
