Bear in mind though that the Wii games are very family orientated and the graphics are worse than a PS2 but the motion control system gives it the edge and is great fun and is the most popular console on this poll!raj101 wrote:In all honesty, I think I'll go Wii, it should get a decent price drop next year when the Wii U comes out.

Yep. Huband has had one for a while (yes, I know) and it's beautiful. Although I'm happy with my Samsung, I've always loved Nokia and I have to say it's a gorgeous phone. Also, if it's a freebie, who am I to say no???!!TheyCallMeMrGlass wrote:Ooh is that the Lumia 800? Nice :)anakin wrote:ANDROID?!??! Bleurgh. Wii, yes, i dont think my mum will notice thankfully, she'll be using it more than anyone.
Finished Max Payne - what awesome production values! and this has and some witty repostes to the Matrix movie. If anyones not played this yet I'd recommend it, I liked it and I am really kind of past the age where I enjoy blowing things up with guns. I rarely play a game twice but I might just do for this, the game is like a well directed movie whenyou arent shooting things.
Cant say the same for the horrible Max Payne movie - starring our old friend Mark Whalberg (give me strength..), although the game's character bears a strong resemblance to Mel Gibson in 'Edge of Darkness' from last year.
fav 5 films of the year - Tenet, Bill n Ted 3, Invisible Man, JoJo Rabbit, ?

Re: PC, Console and Mobile Gaming
Glad you enjoyed Max Payne, its a very radical game with great narrative.
Lovefilm sent me Zelda Skyward Sword for the Wii a week ago. Clocked about 30hours so far on this game and I dont think I am even anywhere near halfway. Never played a Zelda game in my life but I thought I try this because it got such rave reviews and being called a masterpiece. Personally I think it is vastly over rated but it is a sweet game, and has a refreshing innocence about it. But I hate that it doesnt have dialogue, everything is in speech bubbles. I want them to talk not just make strange sounds. I think I am being spoiled by the PS3 games of detailed graphics and high production values.
I have just also received my Batman Arkham City game for PC. Got a great pre-order price bundled with Blu rays of The Dark Knight and Batman Begins all for a measly £24 (should be £44). In fact its such a giveaway price that The Hut took the offer down and tried to pull a fast one on the customers who ordered, that the bundle was not in stock. But when I looked at the individual items on their website, they were all in stock and its just a matter of them bundling it. Simple. So I called them a few times and after some initial BS talk from them I got through to a manager and told him to get someone in the warehouse and pick the items out manually then we can all be happy. And he did so.
I've only just played a couple of hours on Batman Arkham City but its looking awesome. The first game Batman Asylum was good but this one is looking to be the best superhero game I've played.

Re: PC, Console and Mobile Gaming
Anyone played any video games over the holiday?
I played 4 games over Christmas. Tintin and a James Bond game called Bloodstone on PS3. Both were excellent games but very short as I completed each of them in 2 days. But they were very enjoyable. Tintin capture the feel of the film perfectly but with a different narrative of the story. Bloodstone had Daniel Craig voicing Bond and the whole game felt like a brand new Bond film complete with a new Bond title sequence.
I am also playing Zelda: Skyward Sword on the Wii but after clocking 60 hours on this, I feel quite bored with it. I dont know why this game is considered a masterpiece but it is charming and does make good use of the Wii Motion controller but sometimes it doesnt respond as it should and is frustating.
The other game I am also playing is Batman Arkham City on the PC. Its an ok game, and I do feel like Batman but its a bit all over the place with no focus on a decent plot. I actually prefer the first game which felt more tight in its narrative.
Well that was my Christmas gaming :)

Re: PC, Console and Mobile Gaming
So is anyone keen on the PS Vita releasing this Wednesday?
Best online deal I find by a long shot to any other store is from Play.com. PS Vita wifi + Uncharted + 8gb mem card for £242. Also if you have a nectar card you get double the normal points, therefore 4 points to £1. So thats 971 points which is almost worth £5 effectively making the play.com offer £238. Quido is only 1% (this is classed as a console p*rchase) which equates to £2.43 so Nectar is the better option.
If anyone prefers to b*y the PS Vita on the high street (due to an online purchasing phobia!), HMV are doing the PS Vita wifi + Uncharted or Fifa for £229 but no memory card (Play.com 8gb mem is worth £30). But you also get £10 off any other PS Vita game. You wont see these deals on the HMV online website, its only in store. They never ever shows the actual bundles they do in-store which are always far better deals.
But I have to say it still doesnt beat the amazing Play.com offer of PS Vita wifi + Uncharted + 8gb mem card for £242 (the mem card is worth £30 alone). Also if you have a nectar card you get double the normal points, therefore 4 points to £1. So thats 971 points which is almost worth £5 effectively making the play.com offer £238. Quido is only 1% (this is classed as a console p*rchase) which equates to £2.43 so Nectar is the better option.
Well today I was at the the PS Vita London Tour showroom in Oxford Street and played a few games. When I walked in I practically dashed to the Uncharted: Golden Abyss console, ignoring the nice promotion staff who were giving out free Coke Zeros (which are not healthy btw!). See I am a massive fan of the PS3 Uncharted games and to be honest this new Uncharted game is what is compelling me to b*y the PS Vita. Having now played a couple of levels of it, it truly is stunning. It really is almost like a portable PS3 experience, the game itself has all the charm, graphics, adventuring, story telling and gaming control that I love on the PS3 games, including all the voice actors (though no Elena because this game is a prequel story). The PS Vita has the same control pad structure as the PS3, ie 2 analogue controllers, D pad etc. The only thing missing is L2 and R2 buttons but this is compensated for the radical backpanel touchpad. Which works surprisingly well. For instance when in sniping mode, I slide my index finger on the back panel to zoom in and out as I take aim.
The actual PS Vita itself is amazingly light, it felt like I was holding one of those dummy phone handsets in a Carphone Warehouse. It feels very plasticy though. But the screen is absolutely dead gorgeous. Very vibrant like a Samsung Galaxy phone but obviously bigger.
I am not so hot on most of the other games such as the fighting games and Wipeout 2048 (why is this series so successful? Its so punishing! OK, maybe I'm just crap at it). But there were a couple of standout games (apart from Uncharted). Escape Plan that looks to be wonderfully addictive in a Lemmings sort of way. They said it will only be £10 but purchasable online only. The first few levels are easy but it actually makes use of the back touchpad too. The other game I loved is called Gravity Rush. Its a kind of comic book strip story but its a fully realised 3D surreal world environment where you can float/fly in the air, walk on walls and glide through even into space using boosters. Like I said its surreal but its so beautiful and very radical. The animation is stunning like Studio Ghibli movies. Its very Japanese in style and has a nice ambience to it drawing from Zelda/Final Fantasy games. These are the kind of games I would be happily playing on a PS3.
The fact I can play these kind of games on a pocket machine is jaw dropping. I grew up in an era where I got excited playing number based games on my digital casio watch and a calculator, long before a Gameboy was around. I cant believe I have seen such an evolution at my very young age
To be honest the the Iphone4 and latest android phones have similar hardware processing power and many of the games on them are impressive which I do play a lot of, especially the Gameloft games. But the PS Vita is a dedicated gaming system with proper hardware controller buttons and sticks that makes all the difference to a gaming experience than with an Ipad/Galaxy Tab, Iphone/Android' touch screen controls.
I do feel though that this particular dedicated portable gaming market is a diminishing one as most of us are satisfied with the gaming capabilities of our smartphones and tablets/pads, not to mention the plethora of games available for them at such cheap prices (free even). But playing those games in the PS Vita showroom today convinced me that the PS Vita is the ultimate portable gaming experience.
I will be hoping that Lovefilm will include PS Vita games soon though, if not I guess I can trade in games. If the expanse of games dry up, I guess I might sell of the PS Vita down the road but right now I'm excited over it and its now that matters to me :)

I love playing Crimson Butterfly and Fahrenheit. Still haven't managed to figure out how to save my sister in Crimson Butterfly and escape the village and would appreciate any help.

Think we can merge these.
I am currently playing Mass Effect 3 on the PC. Though very slowly as my time is so limited at the moment and Mass Effect demands my whole life spent on it, lol
I am thinking of trading my PS Vita for an XBox360 plus games as I dont find it convenient playing dedicated handheld consoles. I b*ght it specifically for Uncharted as I am a big fan of the trilogy on the PS3.

Re: Video Games
oh no, the merging has eliminated the poll results. there were 96 votes last i looked. I seem to recall the Wii was the most popluar and 6 people voted video games should banned, lol.
Ill try recreate the poll later. Now we got the ps vita and 3ds in the mix too.
