They're back on again but their security has been beefed up as I can no longer get freebies, it says that I already successfully applied this week when I haven't.

Correction, you can get tickets. You just have to have access to numerous IP addresses as it appears to be 1 per IP address per week. I tried different PC's and the only thing that worked was different broadband connections. At least it gives everyone a chance.

Another added security feature is the code is now only in the email so a fake address gives you nothing.

Apparently any false codes obtained have now been cancelled and no longer work! Does anyone know if this is true?

Same here, I haven't used any! :( Some users mentioned it on MSE and I PM'd one and she replied saying she's had no luck, nor have the other users and that it seems as though the fake ones have been cancelled. She hasn't confirmed it with Cineworld though since all of hers were fake!

You mean Cineworld is checking with mastercard to see if the card numbers are real?

I didn't know about this until recently, but am not impressed. I'm not saying it's not a good offer for some people, but to even to be able to enter, you have to book tickets with a Mastercard, and if I'm not seeing a film free (which I haven't for a while now, with the dearth of previews), I just turn up and p*y on the day. I would never book ahead for Cineworld, for a normal performance; only for something like a special event at an independent cinema or smaller chain.

I don't know if they are checking it or not, it just wasn't working according to a few MSE users.

I've re-read my e-mail thanking me for applying for the Cineworld ticket and sending congratulations from MasterCard on being one of the first 1,000 to claim that particular week!
I have scrutinised this e-mail, and can find nothing on it to indicate the original number which I used when applying for the ticket. For all they know, I used my own Mastercard to gain the ticket. I shall certainly be p*ying with it.
This whole venture could backfire on Mastercard and Cineworld. I'm going to give it a try this weekend. I'll let you know how I get on. If anyone else uses theirs before me, let us all know what happened.
