The Cat's Pyjamas! An evening celebrating the Jazz Age
Friday 24 February 6pm - 10pm
Inspired by the exhibition Age of Elegance: 1890 - 1930, join us for a Late View celebrating the Jazz Age in all its decadent splendour.
We will be kicking up our heels to the music of the Roaring Twenties and enjoying the whimsical, witty literature and entertainment of the Bright Young Things. You can also try a specially-designed Trilby cocktail from our pop-up bar...
The exhibition and events are FREE. No need to book.
NEWS!
We are delighted to announce some of our fabulous entertainers for the evening.
Music will be provided by "smallest big band in the world" The Rio Trio. You can learn the Charleston and the Black Bottom with costumed dancers from The London Swing Dance Society.
The glamourpusses at The Anthologist will be running our pop-up bar. Try the Trilby cocktail: gin, maraschino liquer, grapefruit juice, lemon and sugar. Sweet, sour and delicious.
Actor Mark Oosterveen will be reading P.G. Wodehouse in our Spoken Word Cabaret, comedian Tommy Ettling will be talking us through some of the highlights of 1920s popular entertainment, and we'll be joined by the Keats House Poetry Ambassadors for a bit of weird and wonderful Jazz Age verse.
There will also be a fabulous 1920s-inspired hat stall run by our exhibition milliner 'Orizu'.
Dressing the part is not essential, but would be fabulous...
