I wouldn't recommend writing to SFF, first thing they would do is shut down sites like FMUK,MSE etc! (if they could). Asking them to monitor the tickets more carefully ain't going to help people on FMUK, MSE etc....
What? Are you kidding?

If some people are registering here and on MSE and then getting tickets WITHOUT bothering to turn up, don't you want them banned?

And why would I mention this site anyway (I didn't)? I'm just a concerned member of SFF who doesn't want to see empty seats at screenings.

I'm perplexed by your response.

Well no, because do you think they will just be checking people who doesn't turn up? They will probably check and ask why tickets have different name to the booked tickets or people turning up with tickets with other peoples names, why some people have 3 sets of tickets for the same film on the same night in different venues.
And people sometimes do have genuine reasons for not being able to turn up last minute....

Even before SFF started, when people had to go to the cinema to collect the actual tickets, there was still quite a few empty seats at the screenings. Even for premieres theres always empty seats too(thats why they have companies that find seat-fillers for premieres). Sadly its something that will always happen....

SFF don't care, quite frankly.

This screening brings to mind a moral point which i've been meaning to make for ages as far as free cinema tickets goes.

IF you are not the target audience and there is a good chance that you are not going to enjoy the film after reading the synopsis and seeing the trailer, why bother going? Is it just that you (this is 'you' as in everyone) get a kick out of being one of the lucky few to get a free ticket?

Furthermore, taking this screening as a case in point, there were easily 150 spare seats in the whole cinema. Why? Could it be because people just enter competitions through habit whether they want to win or not and on the rare occasion that they actually win, they decide, nah, don't really want to see that anyway. Thus depriving real fans of a chance to go? Hmmmm. Disappointing. There are some kids (sorry loads of kids) who would've chewed their right arm off to be there tonight.

Sorry I rambled on a bit. Make that a LOT. 8O

All the best everyone,

HYD
I went because I am reading the books, liked the look of the trailers and really was looking forward to it. Sadly I didn't like it. I did take a teenager with me though

I guess there were empty seats because of the short notice. Not every one can go that night at the drop of a hat. Plus that is a massive cinema to fill.

I will go to most films unless I know for sure its not my thing. I 've seen many films that I didn't think I'd like but did, and luckily not that many that I didn't like
preferred locations Shepherds Bush, Westfield, Notting Hill, Central London, Wimbledon, Islington, Wandsworth thanks

Precisely SFF don't care at the moment and I am happy it stays that way. This is to the benefit of everyone of all FMUkers, rather than them having strict security checks. Imagine you got tickets for friends on FMUKers and they don't turn up (due to illness or something lastminute) and you get banned for it.....

It's common courtesy that if you can't make an appointment, you let people know.

I never suggested strict security checks, I simply said that the cinema should return the confirms to SFF to let them know who turned up and who didn't. If you're ill and you don't let SFF know so that they can reallocate the tickets, then sorry but that's just being rude and you're depriving other people who want to go.

However, that's my last word on the subject as I don't want to argue with people here who seem to be happy with the way things work at the moment. But don't complain when SFF don't honour things like free theatre tickets at short notice when the theatre has a surge of demand from p*ying punters who will definitely attend.

Best,

I agree with you totally, I am against people applying for tickets and not turning up and especially some people who are hoarding tickets to offer to offer to other people, as recently was the case on gumtree. But what I don't think would be the best idea is if we want SFF to start checking the details of who's shown up/who's not etc. I agree it's a real shame when some preview screenings are very empty (See my note under paranormal activity, they are giving a preview code for people to b*y tickets online with Vue *sigh* It's like a charging SFF....)
