First thing to say is if you are about to see the film, don't read any reviews, in fact don't read anything else about the film....

I was very pleasantly surprised at how inventive they were with the genre, I would give it a surprisingly generous 9/10. They do get lots of brownie points for trying something new. My friend liked the concept too, but thought the ending or final 1/3 way over the top and thought it turned quite farcical. Whatever one feels, this is definitely a film that you NEED to watch.

I was expecting it to be a good film and I've been looking forward to seeing it, however I couldn't make the screening tonight. I'll have a painful wait to watch this film, especially now that you've given it a rating of 9/10 and you've made me even more curious to see how "inventive" they have been with the direction of this film/script.
Was it really scary though? I love scary films so much but so many films these days just rely on ridiculously loud noises to scare the viewers, I hope this film is different.

Don't know I think this deserves to be a massive Scream-style hit, but judging from the audience reaction afterwards it was a bit lukewarm, I was at least expecting some loud cheering/clapping. I was even toying with a 10/10 but have to agree with some of the things my friend said, the last 1/3 isn't quite subtle or clever enough compared to the setup.

Perhaps the audience were awe struck or scared stiff? ;)

I actually think this film might have been even better in 3D, but that idea was dropped.

First, special thanks to June for giving me the ticket for this

I really frakking loved this movie. I do agree the last 1/3 was a bit over the top but i think it fit in with everything and kept the Whedonesque humour. Especially when
Evil Satanist scientist finally got his Merman
. However during the last 1/3 i couldn't help but be reminded of Buffy
season 4 episode 21, what with all of the labs in the initiative being opened and attacking the scientists
Definetly was unpredictable. Expected alot more scares (especially when the biggest jump scare for me was the scream/bang out of nowhere appearance of the main title as two people are casually having a conversation), but what it lacked in scares it more than made up for in humour and creativity.

9.5/10
Preferred cinemas (in order of choice): Hatfield, Enfield, Lee Valley, Watford, Leicester Square/Central London, Greenwhich or anywhere within the catchment area of those.

Not saying anything about the film, embargo lifts at 7am for me, but the screening last night wasn't as vocal as the first screening, non-public, which is very surprising.

Hmmm...me 2 I thought. It was strangely subdued, considering most people in the audience were horror fans or Whedon fans.
