Winner of seven French academy awards - the critically acclaimed Seraphine is the incredible true story of one of the Twentieth century's greatest artists - Seraphine Louis.
In the early 1900's Seraphine worked as a cleaner in Senlis, a small town outside Paris and for many years would paint by night in secret until her work was eventually discovered by a German art collector and brought to public attention, however Seraphine would struggle for the rest of her life with her gift and the success that it would bring her. A passionate, inspiring and deeply moving drama – Seraphine is released in cinemas on 27th November.

Re: Seraphine
Yes, Odeon Panton Street but for a change it didn't smell like a toilet! They did check IDs on the way in and this seems to be the routine there now. I was told that they had a screening fiasco some time back with many duplicated tickets so lots of people couldn't get in, so they now check IDs. If your name doesn't match the ticket you wait until the end and they see if there are enough seats.
The cinema was very full with only the odd empty seat. It's an odd film. Very slow-moving but I found it enjoyable although it was too long and scenes near the end needed cutting. I'm not sure what most people would think--some would see this as a(nother) boring French film but to my mind it had value and the lead Yolande Moreau was superb.

Yeh I think it happened with Inglourious Basterds back in the summer.... Since then they became real strict!ejwrank wrote:They did check IDs on the way in and this seems to be the routine there now. Re: Seraphine
i thought it was too long. too many long lingering shots of faces etc. a good film in need of much cropping. and it ran to two (or more) hours so it could easily have been cut.

Re: Seraphine
I actually liked this movie, although it was slow passed. The lead actress did an amazing job. I think only the very last scene was really too long...reminded me of films from the director Manoel de Oliveira...
