OUR FRIENDS FROM THE NORTH

#1 Post by MariaLionza » Sat Nov 21, 2009 7:21 am

Only a week ago I was having a splendid time with our lovely Andrews... just a few days after a deluge that has damaged great part of the area and created a bad chance for a restful Christmas and time ahead.
I just hope that all of you and your relatives and friends are safe and sound.
I include P York, I include Spanner , Cortone, Steve9872, allsinging, Elski, Marjoreemarjora and anyone else I might have missed but not forgotten.
Our hearts, thoughts and words are with you.
Bless you all. Take care.

Thank you so much for your kind thoughts, MariaLionza. We are all right here in Durham, and have had nowhere near the amount of rainfall as they have had in The North West. It's pouring down, but that's normal for November. Our thoughts are with the unfortunate people in Cockermouth, who will be spending a very different Christmas to the one they had planned.

We've heard of the exact areas where the rain has hit hard but nevertheless is comforting to hear it from you!

Awwwww it rained awfully here for about half an hour and to think I was sitting here wondering when it will stop when up north it's so much worse. :(

Hopefully it will get better.

Yes, this is all very tragic. I used to have relatives in this area, and who worked in Cockermouth, so I know the area well. It is really tragic - all these poor people who have had to leave their homes. I hear they are short of baby food and disposable nappies etc. But how can they get anything to them just now? The winds are too high for helicopters, and the bridges make it difficult to get to so many places.

I hope it does not turn into a Hurricane Katrina type situation for the poor people who have lost their homes or just had to move from them.
