The film took ideas from Being John Malkovich and Eternal Sunshine of the spotless mind. I was quite interested in the film exploring the ideas of celebrity with Paul Giamatti playing "himself" so to speak. But I agreed with what people said, it had interesting ideas, but didn't explore it far enough. I think we are still waiting for a "perfect" film for this "genre", hopefully I will be making such a film! hehe...
I actually quite liked the film, but don't think it's good watching it in the cinema, it's more a film for watching in the comfort of your home in a quiet moment. Definitely not a film for a night out in town! 7/10 for me
I didn't think the seats were too bad at the Shaftsbury Avenue, but I was sitting near the front and the screen was way tooooo close to the seats and made for uncomfortable viewing. And what was all that waiting for before letting people in at 6.32?

There were 6 of us sitting in the back row, you must have sat next to some of us!rjhempel wrote:Have to say, that screen was way too small, not nice at all, being in the back row, the floor there was sticky as Beate says.
And yes, horribly uncomfy seats, had a total neckache afterwards.

Re: Cold Souls
It was much more of a neckache at the front! I was actually thinking of writing to the cinema. It's like watching a 40'' TV screen at home from 30cm away!

I saw this yesterday and quite enjoyed it, though for me it's another honourable "also-ran" (I seem to have rated a large number of films 7 or 7.5 - now I'm wondering if there was much difference; also whether I should adjust some of my 8s upwards?) rather than one of my best of the year. I think the trailer gives you a fair idea of what to expect, though the sudden ending was a bit of a let-down. I'm glad I didn't find it too similar to "Eternal Sunshine", as I didn't like or "get" that, but then I'm not that keen on kate Winslet. And I loved Dina Korzun saying earnestly "Your soul... eez in Russia."
