I was lucky enough to go to the closing night premiere for Frightfest of Descent Part 2. I did go in shorts and T-shirt, not expecting a red-carpet premiere. Luckily my hunch proved correct, a few people even dressed up in horror costume/make up. They were selling various horror masks, books, paraphernalia in the hallway of Empire. The film started about 1/2 hr late, there were the closing night speech/video from organisers and speech from the director and cast.
I must say I was very bored for the 1st half, as the set up was a typical mountain rescue mission, whereas the 1st film was more intriguing (a group of ladies going rock coming but one of them slept with the others husband and you wonder what they will do to each other). This time around we know what to expect inside the caves, what the score is.
Where this film does improve is when the action starts, some of the horror scenes are quite decent (think the Saw films) and sitting with a very appreciative audience, they clapped and cheered at every triumph by the main characters.
Rent it as a dvd rather than sit through it in the cinema, but I think the appreciative audience helped to push the score to a 7/10

Re: Descent Part 2
This is coming out next week, I am kind of surprised they are not doing any free talker screenings for this film, especially as there's not alot of free screenings at the moment. This is the kind of film that needs good word of mouth against all those big budget Hollywood films over christmas. It's not like they are not spending money on the marketing for this film, i've seen many ads for this film on TV at the moment already

I was thinking of watching this but I think I'll wait now.... Thanks for the review.... Although Saw like films aren't really my type of horror.

Re: Descent Part 2
Looking back at my review, I miss walking around in summer clothes. We had a rather nice September and now we are in the depths of a chilly, wet winter! The film's not bad, it is watchable, but nothing to get excited about.

Re: Descent Part 2
I know... it's bloody freezing. Even at home, I'm wearing three layers of cardigans.
I miss Summer too. I really don't like Winter.
Cinema has been looking very bleak for me over the last few weeks. I checked Cineworld and that's really the only film that looks like it's worth watching. And perhaps The Men Who Stare At Goats but I think the screenings are getting less and less....
