Yay finally got to see this, 3rd time lucky :) Bloody well worth the pursuit too.

I thought the film started off like a breezy art theft heist type movie along the lines of say Oceans 11 but then evolved into a complex edge of the seat thriller that was relentlessly exciting all the way through. There are twists and turns that I am sure threw some of you clever clogs off balance ;) Being not so clever, the plot turns made me fall off my seat (alright slide off it). Some moments of wit and dark humour made me think of the Coen bros. Of course it is all a little implausible but you have to expect that with this type of film, main thing is its tightly woven with hardly any plot holes.

The leading actor was great as the mastermind art thief who finds himself in over his head with his latest art painting heist. Thought he carried the whole film with convincing urgency.

This really was a top class highly entertaining thriller that I am sure sure Hollywood will remake at some point. But please dont let it be Mark Warlbergh...

Ive now seen 3 other Nowegian films in the last couple years and they were all rather good high concept fantasy films. This one is the best one yet.

9/10

Saw this in Cineworld in Glasgow tonight. Cinema was about 70% full which I thought might result in a number of people leaving when they realised film was sub-titled . . . . how wrong was I! Only 2 people left . . . but after watching for an hour! :shifty:
I have quite a mixed response to the film.
It was almost a film of 2 halves. 1st part appearing to be a "normal" art theft film. 2nd part was murder and mayhem!
Subtitiles were easily read to keep up with the story.
Gore shown in one particular scene was unnecessarily graphic. :X 8O The film would have lost nothing without it!
I don't know that I would watch it again but enjoyed(!?!) it enough to be glad I'd seen it.
Marks 7/10
Preferred cinemas: Best: Glasgow Quay, Glasgow Braehead, Glasgow Renfield Street, Glasgow Fort & Paisley
Others I'd go to: Glasgow Showcase Baillieston

Loved this. Found it quite amusing, despite certain content. Just different. Will now move onto the books.

Loved this movie, a lot of dark humour. But why oh why the art theft story. Could have easily left that out or was it a red herring?

I went to the Cardiff screening last night. I have to admit that the screening was 60%-70% full. I reckon it was probably because it was a lovely evening and people opted to be outside and enjoy the weather.

I thought the film was really good. I had an hunch that the film would be subtitled beforehand. This didn't effect my enjoyment of it. Mostly because I don't think the film was very heavy on dialogue so I didn't have to be constantly looking at the subtitles. Very cleverly done, especially with the use of humour - one scene in particular was both funny and disgusting at the same time (I won't spoil it by giving details!). I just hope that Hollywood don't try and do an English version like with the Girl with a Dragon Tattoo as I think the Norwegian setting and actors worked perfectly.

Loved it Loved it Loved it!
What a stonker of a film! I really went with such low expectations particularly with it being all in foreign, but was pleasantly surprised. Yes it is a bit graphic. Yes it is a little silly in places, but all the better for it. A complete rollercoaster of a film with so many twists and turns.
If I have one criticism it is the subtitles. Would it not be possible to have one character's dialogue appear at one time rather than one's along with the reply? Or else different colour? I find it quite distracting rushing to read maybe 3 or 4 lines on the screen before it vanishes and then trying to establish who it was that said what. Just me probably).
I'm still wondering why Ove spoke to his gilfriend Natasha in English at one point though. She definitely replied in foreign.
This is a definite must-see. Definitely one of the best foreign language movies of the year. Let the Americans go stuff with their shitty remake. I find that an insult that they have to redo everything - and so quickly as well. If they can't cope with subtitles then let them overdub it with their Hollywood actors' voices.

An easy 9/10 from me. So glad that dog got it!
