I would recommend it yeah if they want to go to the museums and the Sistine chapel. I booked mine from here
http://biglietteriamusei.vatican.va/musei/tickets/do
There was another queue in St Peters Square for the actual church, not sure if you can b*y tickets for that in advance but the queue is massive. I didnt do that one.
Just returned from a fabulous few days in Rome, what a stunning city! I must have chosen the perfect week to go as there were no queues, about 10 people in front of us for the Vatican and for St Peter's and the weather was perfect for sightseeing. It is much prettier than I imagined and had almost a quaint feel to the place which I didn't expect. The Vatican is absolutely amazing I spent 8 hours there

, it is such an indulgent place that we had 2 stop a few times just to absorb what we had seen; ( it was like being a spoilt child when you receive 3 birthday gifts you appreciate them but if you get 30 you can become blase (don't know how to do accents) ) We stopped for a bite to eat in the Vatican (really inexpensive) before we entered the Sistine Chapel so we could savour the moment and WOW its so hard to comprehend the work that was involved.
Although the city can be very expensive we found that the prices to eat in the Museums was a little cheaper than UK prices. MrG you were so right about crossing the roads is just a case of go for it and hope for the best.
The only negative we had was in our hotel you had to p*y 22 Euro just to turn on the TV and then when we thought that we would put on a film it was another 11 Euro hence we didn't bother especially as we would have only watched about 30 mins before we fell asleep.

I'm only 20 and I've only ever been with mates to the south, so depending on your ages you may be wanting a different holiday experience to me but if you're into zoos/marine parks Loro Parque is really good (you can get a bus from anywhere on the island). The penguin house is amazing. I have to say as well that I think their shows (they have a sea lion one, dolphin one, and killer whale one) are even better some of the ones at Sea World in Orlando. Siam Park is like a sister park to it which also really good it's a water park with all the slides and a fake beach.
Also they're some really good boat trips. I went on a lovely day one where they take you out to look at the dolphins and whales (which we actually did see!!) with lunch and then snorkelling in the afternoon.

Just came back this weekend - sadly I haven't experienced any of these shows, as it was such a short trip and the weather was sooo amazing that we basked in the sun! It was pretty amazing - we could see the thick dark clouds hovering just off our resort (in the shouth part of the island), but we never got rain, instead glorious weather. On our last day, we rented a car (32€ all inclusive, for a whole day) and drove to the volcano, El Teide. It's something I totally recommend, some parts were just like we were on Mars or the moon. To reach the top of the volcano you need to take a lift, but I wouldn't recommend: 2 hours of waiting at least and 25€ a person - a joke! Instead we went around the volcano, took some pictures and then eent to visit another must-see in Tenerife - the big cliffs of Los Gigantes. In summary, a great experience, where the time literally takes much longer to go by than in London!

are you going North or south? do you have limited budget, do you car hire or do you prefer to go on trips etc?
Sorry anna, just saw your post - in fact, I went to tenerife on the same day you posted :O! I went south, whic seems to be the good choice, since it was forecasted rain to the north the whole weekend!
