Re: Free Theatre/Concert Tickets Discussion Thread
In response C_T, the mousetrap is still running and this has been running for like 60 years I believe and Noises off has a 10year run about 10years ago!
A horse walks into a bar and the bartender asks, "Why the long face?"
A pony walks into the bar and whispers, "I'll have a beer, please." The barkeeper asks, "Why are you whispering?".
"I'm a little hoarse."

Re: Free Theatre/Concert Tickets Discussion Thread
The West End has a long tradition of staging farces and there have been some very long running ones with people such as Ronnie Corbett in them. Noises Off is a more modern take on this and a deserved successor to that history. Similarly One Man, Two Guvnors is another one that may run for some time.
However more serious plays do tend to have much shorter runs as there is simply not the same demand for them as musicals and to a lesser extent farce.
The Mousetrap is quite simply a one-off phenomenon that has become an institution and continues to defy all the rules.

A friend was telling me she and her OH wanted to see The Mousetrap and were concerned that they might run out of time. I said I thought it unlikely!
Re: Free Theatre/Concert Tickets Discussion Thread
I think you are fairly safe with that advice!

i've never seen it .. my sister went with a few girls from work and after a boozy lunch, found themselves starting to doze!! after the interval, they sat there, shivering ... my sister said they put the air conditioning on - probably because they saw the girls dozing and wanted them to stay awake!!!

Re: Free Theatre/Concert Tickets Discussion Thread
Its because we saw the movie so recently that we decided not to go as too much of the same theme......canadian_turtle wrote:They're actually blaming the movie. They were working on the play before the film came out but delayed it when it came out. And are now saying it's maybe still too soon after. I would've assumed they could ride on the success of the film but guess the opposite is the case.
Preferred cinemas:
Central London and North London as far north as the Hampstead Everyman including Picturehouse Hackney/Notting Hill Gate - but not Wood Green and North Finchley as they are just a bit too far.
