Re: The Raid
That's what the front site says:
Directed by Gareth Evans
Starring: Iko Uwais, Ananda George and Ray Sahetapy
I have no idea what the II means. I just noticed it's in smaller text too on IMDB. I wonder what that means. Normally when something is II, it's in the same style of text as the title.

Re: The Raid
Maybe it stands for 11 as in 2011?

Re: The Raid
This is simply because there is more than one film with the name "The Raid" on imdb and they have to distinguish them somehow.

Re: The Raid
Oh who cares anyway? How many people are going to refer to it as the entire title. Everyone will just call it "The Raid" if anything. So it will do!

Re: The Raid
Saw this at Shaftesbury Avenue on Thursday where MariaLionza & I appeared to be representing FMUK.
The Raid is mental! It is VERY violent and almost one extended fight scene with occasional little breakouts of plot and character development. However my three friends and I all rather enjoyed it. The plot such as there was, while a little derivative is actually quite good and a lot of the fighting is so extreme that it comes over as funny, at least to our Western eyes.
As has been said already it is not a blood and guts horror film but also probably not for the squeamish. There were quite a few gasps at points from the audience, but also some shared laughter.

Re: The Raid
Saw this at the Cineworld Wandsworth on Thursday. We were kept waiting in a queue for 45 mins without being told what was going on. Started regretting the decision to do this instead of The Avengers at the 02. The film finally started at 19.00 without any kind kind of apology or explanation for being kept waiting.
As for the film itself I really enjoyed it. Fast paced with decent action and a likeable lead performance from Iko Uwais. Sure some of the fights were occasionally repetitive but they were incredibly well-choreographed by lead Uwais and Yayan Ruhian (Mad Dog). The fights involving Mad Dog in particular were ridiculously entertaining and it was quite amusing watching him get thrown around. Also nice to hear a round of applause after an action sequence, you don't usually get that kind of thing outside of festival screenings.
Slightly insane, often awesome and well worth seeing if that's your kind of thing.
