Globespan

Any other FMUKKERS been affected by Globespan going into liquidation? I spent all last night trying to salvage the tatters of my forthcoming holiday. To say nothing of the 3,000 odd holidaymakers stranded and 500 or so workers that are now out of a job!

Not from Globespan - hopefully from Credit card company. :cross:
Couldn't get another flight for the same dates either so I've had to change hotel & car hire arrangements too, no doubt there'll be amendment fees to p*y. Could be worse - if I'd used debit card I don't think I'd get anything back. :(

How awful for you Large Marge - I know how upsetting this must be and all the new arragements to be made. We are flying (hopefully) with BA on 5th January and although it has been decided by court order that they cannot go ahead with the strike just now who knows - if we get away on holiday we might not get back!!
Why are people who are in jobs that affect millions of people allowed to do these things when little people like ourselves go about our daily work and have to get on with it as no one else is interested if we have grievances about work conditions etc. Makes me b----- mad.
A holiday is supposed to relax you and to enjoy not get beat up and stressed about flight arrangements!!

I quite agree with you Biggins. If I went on strike I'd get the sack.
Much like with Royal Mail - so many applied for the temp jobs - surely potential strikers should learn from that. There are so many people out of work just happy to take the deals that are on offer now.

Sorry to read this large marge! Have you managed to get any further with reimbursement? A lot of people have been left well and truly up the creek! :wall:

God, what a nightmare! But Large Marge, well done indeed for using a credit card to book your flights. And let that be a good example to the rest of us who tend to use debit card for online purchases and holiday bookings. Using debit card or cash on high street shopping is fine but not for online bookings and purchases.

Beates link should put you at ease Large Marge, you will get your money back as long as you claim it straight away. You'll probably need to be patient as these processes could take up to a few months.

I'm really feeling even more sorry for those stranded in other countries. If I was one of them, I'll be running around like a panicking headless chicken.

Do you have a VR headset? If so, maybe we can play a physical sports game or even be sports/fitness partners, hit me up if you keen.

Thanks for all the support and helpful comments & links (cheers Beate! o/ ). I haven't got anything arranged yet but I'm so glad we used a credit card - up to 2 years ago we didn't even have one and we don't use it often. I often prefer to use my debit card but not any more (not online anyway). I'm still waiting to hear if the hotel can accommodate our changed dates - we couldn't get new flights on the same dates. Still hoping to get a holiday to Cyprus in January. My OH gets SAD this time of year, drives me up the wall, so a winter break in the sun does him (& me) the world of good. Think I told you all this last year...

Biggins, good luck with BA. And fingers crossed now for Thomson flights staying solvent for a while too. :cross:
