I've b*ght tickets on 3rd June at the IMAX in London. Not mad about 3D or the IMAX (too loud) but I understand that it is only in 3D?

I've found that as well... thought that they're only showing in IMAX 3D or just 3D... but appears there's some limited showings in 2D in some locations. Perhaps after the main release, there will be more widespread releases in 2D... here's hoping! Don't want to be suffering in 3D unless I have to.

Seeing as it has been filmed in 3D, rather than converted post-production, I look forward to it.

Prometheus will be released with a 15 rating in the UK, without any cuts or edits.

Ridley Scott's return to science fiction is a prequel of sorts to Alien, taking place 35 years before the events of the original movie and telling the story of the mysterious 'Space Jockey'. And it has now emerged that while the film will get the 15 rating, it will be released as the director intended, according to Empire.

Until just a few days ago, it had been predicted that Scott's movie would get a PG-13 in the US, roughly equating to a 12A here. It has ended up with a US rating of R, due to "intense images and brief language".

The rating of Prometheus had been the cause of intense speculation, and fears that the studio might tone down the movie for commercial reasons. Earlier this year he told the magazine: "The question is, do you go for a PG-13, [which] financially makes quite a difference, or do you go for what it should be, which is R? Essentially, it's kinda R.

In anticipation for PROMETHEUS, I decided to revisit the original ALIEN movie tonight for the first time in 23 years. I thought it would shed some much needed light on the elusive Space Jockey (the main focus of PROMETHEUS) but guess what - apart from a single shot of the fossilized alien lurched in the navigator's seat at the 29 minute mark, there's absolutely no mention of it. So if you're wondering whether one needs to have seen the ALIEN movies in order to fully appreciate PROMETHEUS, I would say "no". But should you watch it anyway? To that I would respond "HELL f**king YES!!!!"

Let me start this review by saying that I'm not really a fan of Ridley Scott's movies. I've always much preferred his brother's ADHD style of filming. ALIEN and BLADE RUNNER were his only two contributions that genuinely appealed to me, no doubt due to their distinctive Sci-Fi themes. I watched ALIEN for the first time on TV when I was 13 and I definitely remember enjoying it. Of course, this was soon followed by James Cameron's infinitely superior sequel, upon which the memory of the original was completely scrapped from my mind. Thankfully now, at the tender age of 35, I've had the honor of re-experiencing it with a slightly more mature mind at hand (NOTE: this is constantly up for debate).

There is little I can fault this movie on. It is a slow-burner but paced in such a manner that an invariable sense of intimacy is maintained throughout. There's a strong sense of mystery and exhilaration during the initial exploration scenes but following the brutal facehugger segment, it all shifts to relentless terror. As the Xenomorph begins claiming its victims one-by-one, one feels nothing but sheer emotional desperation and anxiety in the cold, desolate Nostromo. It's an incredible ride helped immensely by H. R. Giger’s stunning futuristic set-pieces and Jerry Goldsmith's haunting score.

I also have to mention this. It's a rare but oh so pleasant delight to see a casting director place a virtual unknown in the role of the heroine (this was Sigourney Weaver's first major starring role, and even here she was second billed). Hers is far and away the most complex characterization in the movie as she is initially depicted as a protocol-obsessed bitch, content with sacrificing three of her colleague's lives for the rest of her team but, as the movie progresses and she learns of her employer’s elaborate plan through a particularly vulnerable encounter, she evolves into a domineering and resolute protagonist. There's no surprise why they brought Ellen Ripley back for 3 more sequels.

Flaws? Well, the now iconic chest-bursting scene is nothing short of laughable by today's standards - especially the alien's cartoonish getaway. Also, some of the dialogue is dodgy as hell and the actor's motions do occasionally seem a bit forced or unnatural. However, these are all extremely minor flaws. This is landmark filming at best. If you're one of the few people on Earth who hasn't seen any of the ALIEN movies or if you’d prefer going into PROMETHEUS with a bit of harmless background, you simply cannot afford to miss this.

Genuinely expected to be scared, as a nervous nellie, and only one moment had me thinking "Ooh, this could be nerve-wracking", and then it ended suddenly.
Ineffective, full of ideas with no evolution of such ideas, and messy subplots that lead no-where. Nostalgia, not cinema.

I never thought I'd be seriously torn over which film is better: Prometheus or Men in Black 3.

And yet, here I am.

f**k.

I won't be reading any review (I managed to avoid the plot, trailer and viral videos so far)... but I wanted to cry when I read that
