I did think perhaps I should take a photo of the car blocking mine, just in case. Last time colleagues had problems getting in because of the snow (just before Xmas) and rang to say they'd tried but couldn't make it, some of them had calls from managers ordering them to get there! I shall be very careful about answering the 'phone...

Well, that is another understandable concern! If you are a shift-worker (as I am) and the people on the next shift can't get in, you could be in trouble!

Even if you aren't a shift worker...if the trains aren't running, I have no way of getting home from London!

Hope you'll be alright nicolewright. Maybe you could leave a bit early?

Yes, sorry: I didn't mean that it was only shift-workers who had to worry about getting home again. All I meant was that some of us might not be allowed to leave if there were too few people to take over.

Well I am disappointed to say the least. We did have snow but not enough to prevent me getting to work!!

BUT I am the only one who has bothered to come in.........

My son is happy as his school is closed but my daughter has had to go in so she is not too pleased and Hubby works at Gatwick and is self-employed so he took a snow day!!

Son and Hubby just sent me a pic of the snowman they have built!!!! Totally jealous as I love snow and I adore playing around with the kids in it even though they are teenagers!

Yeah, that must be a nightmare. Working another shift when you think you're done for the day. Glad I won't have to do that!

On one of the previous snowy days I got the bus to work, as did a nurse who had had to stay on for a night shift because she couldn't get home. Apparently some essential staff have a clause in their contracts saying they can be required to do this. Glad I don't, although if there was no way to get home anyway, I'm sure I would help out rather than just sit around.

Yeah I guess if you are stuck anyway, you may as well do some work!

They must have clear regulations on that though, wouldn't like to be operated on by a doctor who has been on for 16 hours!
