Robocop (2013)

#1 Post by soonforgotten » Sun Jul 08, 2012 3:15 am

This is a long ways off, obviously, but there's been some exciting developments on the promotional front for this. More specifically, the new ED-209 has been revealed!

102 Different free films seen in 2010 plus 2 repeat viewings and a few tv show screenings... not too shabby. Thanks to everyone for their contributions here.

If you go to the Omnicorp website (http://www.omnicorp.com) and watch the video the interesting thing is that if you look closely at the end then you will see glimpses of what the new Robocop design will be.

Also, scroll down to the bottom of the page and you will see an image under 'Projects in Development' of what appears to be the shoulder section of the new suit; the "RC 2000 - When human resources meet robotic engineering".

I thought Starship Troopers was better in terms of satire but I totally disagree with remaking Paul Verhoeven films. They're so distinctive and violent.
Go ahead, make my day - by visiting my blog: http://jacobthehobnob.wordpress.com/

Member number 33 of the "100 free films in 2012" club. I saw 32, which is rather delightful.. I beat Mr. Glass on free films but he narrowly inched me out on total films seen.

Member number 33 of the "100 free films in 2011" club. I saw 20, interestingly enough. My more realistic target was to see more free films than TheyCallMeMrGlass. I lost.

I think a remake of this can be cool, but it has to be a different type of film. There's no sense in trying to emulate what Verhoeven did with the original. Not many could make such bizarre tonal shifts work like he does.

José Padilha has already showed us what he's capable of with his Tropa De Elite movies. I therefore have extremely strong faith in this project even though I still consider Paul Verhoeven's original a one-of-a-kind masterpiece. After 25 years, it still hasn't shifted an inch from my all time Top 5.

Wish I could say the same about Len Wiseman's Total Recall remake. The trailer looks good, but Wiseman doesn't have a very strong track record when it comes to character development. I do very sincerely hope to be proven wrong.

It looks like it's becoming a Verhoeven appreciation thread more than a Robocop thread :D

Total Recall, I re-watched it a week ago, loved it to bits, as much as liked it as a kid and I really don't see what the reboot will bring to the table, but I'll watch it anyway.

Haven't seen Robocop and Starship Troopers in a good 20 something and 15 years respectively, and all this buzz gets me very excited to re-watch them! Anybody own the blurays? Is the conversion good quality?

Robocop is in strong need of a BluRay remastering. I had the Region 1 Criterion edition on DVD which at that moment in time was the definitive version. I'm sure a proper version will come out now that a remake is on the cards. The current BluRay is OK -definitely watchable- but it needs work.

I'm not particularly looking forward to the new Total Recall or this Robocop remake. I love both of those films because of the cheesy factor. I hope (but doubt) that they can be replicated

not to go too much off topic but Total Recall remake,is there no Richter character,in the trailers just seems like Beckinsale is hunting him down? Richter was my favourite in the original
