Go Murray!! No being British, I do feel British for being living here for some time. And under that line, I believe Murray would be the ideal winner for Wimbledon, and specially so in year of British Olympics! And he is doing well so far ;)

Yep I have always supported Murray (and I'm an American and only a Brit for the last 5 years). I guess some people feel he doesn't do a lot to ingratiate himself but it doesn't bother me. I did find it odd that Alex Salmond said that all of Scotland would be supporting him and even some people in England. As an American I never understood why Scotland didn't support English teams as long as they weren't playing each other. I remember the Rugby World Cup final years back and I was at a school governors meeting and the lady sitting next to me was from Scotland and said "Any team but England". I found that very odd. It is to my mind really amazing that Murray has come through so much -- he was pupil in the Dunblane primary school during the massacre.

So c'mon Andy. Here's hoping!

I support all British sports - whether the players are from Wales, Scotland or England! Although not born here, I have been a Brit since I was five.

Come on Murray!

I think it's more a media driven (spin) that the Scots don't support English teams and vice versa i always cheer on the English teams in European football unless of course my beloved Celtic are involved lol and have seen plenty English support for Scottish teams too in the time's i spent in England i think the papers and so on like to put a spin on any story they can therefore folk get an impression of a lack of support which is not representative of the genuine sports fans ;)

There will always be people of ignorance on both side's for lack of a better way of putting it by by and large i reckon most folk want to see Brit's do well in sports regardless of which part of Britain they come from and in case i haven't said it before .....

Come on Andy :D

My point is simple. You should support someone because you like them and you want them to win. It has nothing to do with their nationality. Yes it would be good if he won for Great Britain - Wimbledon is ours after all, but it's not as if he is representing GB or playing for them. He's playing for himself. It will be him that wins Wimbledon, not GB. I simply can't bear the man. This is just my opinion. Chill.

I'm with you on this - he is one of the very few people that I can't warm to. Roger Federer comes across as a much nicer person in my opinion hence I'm supporting him.

I don't care for tennis, so I don't support anyone. If it's not a team sport like football where I would support Germany, I'd say I would support the individual. I used to watch a lot of ice skating and figure skating back in Germany on the cable channels and I had a particular soft spot for Ukrainian ice skater Viktor Petrenko. I don't see why I should have to support a fellow countryman/woman just because of their nationality if I like someone else better. But if you are only supporting your own nationality, I am not going to argue with you - each to their own.

Yay! Thanks Diane. Was begining to think you were all ganging up on me. Lol.

btw I did agree somewhere above and do think it would be a shame if he doesn't win. He does deserve it, and it would be fitting this year of all years. If not there's always next year though. He does improve year on year.
