That's definitely one of the better movie websites out there and if the writers of Sexy Beast can pull it off again then it could well turn out to be one of the best UK movies of the year (although I do wonder why Jonathan Glazer isn't directing - he's not exactly been busy since Birth)

It's a shame the website isn't real though... Just kidding! :P

Screened last night at the BFI + QA with John Hurt and Ray Winstone. It's OK not a touch on Sexy Beast. Not much to keep you emotionally engaged and there is a scene that's incongruent with the rest of the film. The ghost of Don Logan (Sir Ben Kingsley) is all over this film. Having said that, the ensemble's acting is top notch.

Bang goes my first preview (and what would only have been my 2nd film) of 2010, a victim of the latest snowfall. I got to work OK but I set out very early; later arrivals had a lot more difficulty so I will be pleased just to be able to get home again and think it would be foolish to attempt an unnecessary journey this evening.

Had a real nightmare journey to the WIQ cinema (cursing the DLR for making me go round a long way due to them not going from Bank), arrived out of breath, settled down, it got dark, film came on, said "All About Steve". Saw Sandra Bullock jumping into focus and went out to tell them they had put on the wrong film. By the time they had rectified it, it was already 6.45pm. Probably better that way because a steady stream of people came in until 7pm.

Film was a total disappointment. 90% boring, the only saving grace was John Hurt as cantankerous effing and blinding old git. He did it so well, everyone was sniggering away at his tirades. The rest was just talking. Hours of talking and nothing happening. The plot is basically that Ray Winstone's wife leaves him, he goes into meltdown, tearing up the house then lying sobbing on the floor listening to "Without You" on repeat. His mates arrive and together they decide to kidnap and kill the bloke his wife had the affair with. They actually do the kidnapping but from then on it goes downhill, they sit around, they smoke, they swear, they daydream, John Hurt tells the story of Samson and Delilah ("and all because of a WOMAN!"), and then they let the bloke go. The End. A lot of people actually started laughing out of sheer disbelief at the end.

5/10 and only because of John Hurt! On reflection, I would have rather seen All About Steve. Who was that idiot who went out and told them it was the wrong film? Oh yeah, me....

At least I can enjoy Slumdog Millionaire now with a cuppa on the sofa. Bring it on!

Instantly forgetable!!!

Beate sums up the plot (if you can call it that), but to be honest all I remember is a bunch of guys using the "C" word every 2 minutes or so (no exaggeration)... then the film finished.

A very generous 2/10

It sounds as if Ms Thrifty had a lucky escape!
I am so glad I did not go to this one - your accounts of it sound just like the kind of film I feared it would be. I almost feel guilty for giving you tickets to this Beate!

It was more like every 2 seconds!

Very dissappointing, should have been a lot better with the cast it had!

The language was OTT, and as for the end, well the less said the better, the film was a total let down, glad I didn't p*y for this one!

Don't feel guilty, it was my own decision, and I am sure some people liked it more than me!
