Regarding Bane's depiction, for me it wasn't a matter of relating to the villain which threw me off - it was the utter lack of personality. If there's anything you certainly couldn't fault the Joker on, it was charisma. You feared him but you also liked him. You couldn't wait to hear what was going to come of his psychopathic mouth next. By contrast, Bane was barely anything more than a henchman. Yes, occasionally witty and even somewhat sinister, but for the most part just brutal. There wasn't much of a persona behind the mask...but this is probably the way he was depicted in the graphic novels themselves. He's just not a great character.

yes, hes largely physical in the books. He is basically Batman's Doomsday, but with the mean cunning of a Darth Bane (hmm such an original Star Wars character there! Where did they get that Sith Lord's name from, I wonder?).

But he does become a lot more intelligent in later comic stories lol though ironincally only when he does becomes Ghul's henchman.

EthanRunt wrote:Yes, he has the slight affiliation to the LoS, but as he's just carrying off someone else's plan, how is that an effective villain? The henchman to someone not in the film? That's like if the Silver Surfer came into a Fantastic Four film without Galactus.
It was a redundant plan anyway because the whole point of the League destroying cities (as established in Begins) is because they became overrun with corruption. The whole beginning of TDKR was about, yay, all crime gone.
So basically all that's there is a standard avenging daddy plot. This wasn't a massive problem for me, but it's not the film's strongest point.
didnt really see him as a henchmen, he had his own reasons too which i cant say here due to spoilers. each to own though, but personally loved Bane, he's incomparable to the Joker, completely different villains, but both ace.

just think hes different, dont want the same villain in every film, the point of Bane, was that he was different to anything he faced in the previous installments, his main attribute was brutality, its a different take than just putting in another mental case like Joker.

thought bane's personality came out towards end, wont put spoilers, but the backstory and in particularly a scene towards end showed there was something behind him just being a thug.
