Hi,
Just got back from seeing astroboy at bluewater... apart from a slight projector issue, it was a great watch and was thoroughly enjoyed by 2 thirty something women and a 5 year old girl!!
audience was quite small but everyone seemed to enjoy it!!! :p

Just back from Glasgow. The cinema was reasonably full and we shared a row with a lovely family. Even though I am a fan of the original tv show, I really liked this movie version. The story was slighy different but if it brings the characters to a new generation it can't be a bad thing. 7/10 for us but only because I missed the tv show baddies.
Also a really big hint to fellow previewers, if a family stand at the end of a row, assume that they are trying to get into the spare seats and do not push in and act as though you are clueless. Really bad manners!

Well, I'm Just back from watching Astroboy at the Newcastle Empire. First time at this cinema and sat in the nice seats too

Bizarrely enough, although it was my 5th free film ticket for 2010, its the first actual film I've managed to attend because of the bad weather over recent weeks. Never mind my duck is now well and truly broken, and what's more I have other free tickets for later this week. Yay! o/

I thought it was quite an entertaining film and I did thoroughly enjoy it. However, I did think it was probably more suited to children than adults (although the PG rating and screen warnings that it would be OK for over eights were a little bizarre imho). Would that of been because of perceived emotional trauma for youngsters caused by initial rejection of Astroboy by his father?.......Well I just dont know!

The images and characters of Astroboy and Cora (can you have a romantic lead in a cartoon?) were ace. I noticed humerous nods to Twilight (although my teenage daughter denies this) and Asimov's Laws of Robotics during the film which were nice touches I felt. I love a happy ending too!! :D

Also, I met Andrews and Betty Boop briefly for the first time, which was nice. I must admit though I was nervous because it did feel a little strange going up to someone, who could have been a complete stranger, and whispering "Hi, Are you Andrews? - I'm Preston1990!" lol  I guess I'm just not that comfortable using my FMUK username in daily conversation.

Hi Seen Astro Boy in Cardiff Cineworld. It was about half full and the atmosphere was really good. Lots of children laughing. Did have a tear when dad rejected him.
The baddie did remind me a bit of Iron Giant character.

Is there a secret FMUK signal to recognise one another? or do we make a badge?

I saw this film at the Empire in Newcastle, sitting with anjirose, her sister and friend. Anjirose remarked how large the screen was compared to the screen at the Odeon, MetroCentre, where we saw Up in the Air. It was much larger!

The film is naturally aimed at children with a few humorous asides for the adults to understand and smile at. I have never seen any Astro Boy cartoons so can only comment on the film which I saw today. There were some great action-packed scenes, which entertained the children immensely. The little chap to my left was thoroughly enjoying it.
I enjoyed playing 'Guess the Voice' - Nicolas Cage, Bill Nighy, Donald Sutherland, Freddie Highmore, Charlize Theron and Samuel L. Jackson all included.

Something for everyone, I think. 6.5/10

It was lovely to meet Preston1990 and his family, albeit briefly. How did you know it was me, Preston? ;)
