Mobile Gadgets (iOS / Android / Windows)

#1 Post by Jayman » Fri Sep 07, 2012 1:52 pm

Seeing as there isn't a discussion topic for mobile phones yet, I thought I'd create one.
Moreso as the iPhone 5 is nearing it's release date so a bit of fanboy squabbling could be quite enjoyable. *No trolling please* ;)

For the latest in iPhone5 rumours, feel free to click here.

I'm personally a fan of Android in possession of what I believe to be the definitive smart-phone on the market (the HTC One X) although the Samsung Galaxy S3 is a far more popular choice with the general consumer despite its slightly weaker benchmarking score. It is still a great phone, mind you and the iPhone5 could easily trump them both. The Nokia Lumia too is a surprisingly well-specced device with an assortment of fantastic features running on Windows 8. Hopefully this helps the company rise up from the dead.

i had the galaxy s1, now have the galaxy s2 and have been extremely happy with both phones. i would love the s3, but alas
my contract isnt up until june 2013......by which time we'll probably be on the s4.....
but apart from speeding phones up (quad core etc), and putting more internal memory in ,what else can they do ????

I have the Lumia and there are far too many sites that aren't compatible with Windows phones, including FMUK. It's very annoying.

There is already a Mobile Phone thread http://www.fmuk.org.uk/forum/viewtopic. ... &start=180

I have the Galaxy S2, I love it, not sure there is actually much else I'd want it to do.
Preferred Cinema's now Paignton or Exeter!

Oops! My mistake. I did perform a search beforehand but I obviously missed it.

I am a big HTC fan (had a Cruise, HD and a Sensation atm), but will probably go for the S3 next... ooooh, dark side!

I've only ever had the HTC Desire which was a great phone but flawed terribly by the pathetic internal memory. I spent hours everyday clearing out app data to allow me to use the friggin phone. That was almost enough to convert me to something else but I stuck by it. I upgraded to the One X about 3 months back and while it was an excellent phone with a beautiful UI, there were some jarring issues. Then about 2 weeks ago, HTC issued an OTA update to Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.4. WOAH! What a massive difference! It's suddenly fast and fluid as hell, absolutely no lag, a 30% improvement in battery life, no overheating and to be completely honest it's about the most perfect experience I've had with a smart-phone thus far. Just brilliant. Or should I say "quietly brilliant" ?

This is hilarious! But really hard to believe Apple did not patent the "ideas" and specs behind the Iphone 5 worldwide few years ago before they even started the design process!

the spy hunt (again, it's hard to believe they could accomplished that, from leaks, in the late stages of the Iphone 5 development) and the law suit should be entertaining. My money is on Apple

I too have a Nokia lumia. Have one since they came out as Nokia were giving them away for free so blagged one. Not sure what you mean by its not compatible with some websites including this one. I never had any bother. Yes there are things which are compatible withwindows and only serving android or iOS. One big negative point about it is battery life and having to charge it every day so it is always set to battery saver mode.
