Ebay - Quandary

#1 Post by r33ceh » Thu Oct 04, 2012 12:16 am

OK need your help guys and ladies. the question is am i being to harsh and unsympathetic? or is this person trying to pull the wool over my eyes??
i sold an item on ebay the other day, and stipulated that payment should be within the 24 hours, the selling price was £180 so its not a small sale. and now when i relist the item i am likely to get less money for the item.
ok heres the saga - no payment after 24 hours, no response to my email
no payment after 2 days - no reponse to second email.......no payment after 3 days - no response to 3rd email.by day 4, i send my 4th email advising of possible non-payment strike and negative feedback........ i finally get a response.
"Sorry for not replying, but i have had a loss in my family and no longer want the item" but despite this, has bid on 24 items in the last 4 days, and been on every day for the last 4 days. and even b*ght and pa*d for at least 1 other item
so do i assume they are telling the truth, and not pursue it further. or assume its all codswallop and they're taking the mickey???

your oppinions are much appreciated.

I would guess they are not telling the truth!
If they have been online and been bidding on 24 items then (s)he is obviously not overcome with grief!
I have never sold on ebay and don't know what the protocol is but seem to remember that they have committed to b*y and now want to reneage . . . I would give negative feedback on them!
Preferred cinemas: Best: Glasgow Quay, Glasgow Braehead, Glasgow Renfield Street, Glasgow Fort & Paisley

As a buyer you can't leave negative feedback. What I mean is you can but she will get a positive feedback with a green star so still wins. I would just complain to ebay and relist the item.

Of course he/she's not telling the truth, but that won't change anything for you, you won't get pa*d, you can't force your buyer to p*y...
Report to EBay as you don't want to p*y the fees and relist or do the "second chance" thing to the second highest bidder.

Email them that you have seen they are still b*ying/bidding on EBay, then report them to EBay.

As a regular eBayer I agree with Tilly and Celini. Offer to the second highest bidder or re-list the item.

I Think RickyRaj Idea might be the best off it to the second highest bidder, its a real pain in the arse when people do that!

They will be able to give you a feedback even if they did not p*y. Report them and forget about them.

Definitely report to Ebay.

When they confirm their bid, they have to confirm it twice and thereby is an obligation that they have to p*y if they are the winner. They may be able to come to an arrangement with the seller if there sale will not go ahead but that is unlikely.

I wouldn't worry about negative feedback if you have enough feedback already so it wont be too noticeable. You also have the option to reply to negative feedback on your profile to give your side of the story.
