I thought it was a brilliant film. Really enjoyed it! Very suspenseful for me too. I do not know anything about rugby or the outcome of that world cup. Morgan Freeman was excellent as Mandela. One film I would not mind seeing again!

Enjoyed the movie and thought that both lead actors played their parts really well, although Matt Damons role was a bit limiting. Usual attention to detail by Clint Eastwood in developing lots of little relationship stories within the movie (ie the parents and their changeing attitude to their housemaid for one). Film portrays a good balance of the racism that was evident on both sides at the time and how Mandela's attitudes, beliefs and courage influenced 42 million people.
Definately one to see and I'd rate it 8.5 out of 10.

Great film, brilliant acting but the rugby wasn't that great (LOL). Morgan Freeman played a brilliant Mandela and really portrayed him well while Matt Damon showed talent at times.

Film: 9/10

Great Film just back from seeing this tonight in Edinburgh. Quite a few noisy people about tho :(

Really enjoyed this. like other folks have said Clint Eastwood does not seem to have directed a bad film, and Morgan Freeman was born to play Mandela.

Loved the little sub plots,e.g the wee boy collecting litter and the relationships between the security guards.

Thanks to the four folks for posting the Monday code and especially to Syd cos I got the tickets under that code

9/10 from me o/

I thought this was was very good. Really enjoyed it. I think it went on for over 2 hours but I didn't feel it all. I'm not really a rugby fan but I vaguely remember that world cup when the All Blacks and the great Jonah Lomu were basically smashing everything in their path. However, I couldn't remember who actually won the tournament so I had my fingers over my eyes in case of disappointment.

I thought the story was told very well. Morgan Freeman was an excellent Mandela, you really get an understanding of what a great man he is, although he is a man with his own family problems and issues. While he tries his best to keep everyone happy for the sake of a nation, some of his closest relationships are quite strained. He is also portrayed as very personable and a great flirt!! I liked those little moments that deviated from the main rugby storyline. I have to agree with some other comments that it felt like Damon was underused, it is definitely Freeman's film.

Maybe I'm mistaking some of the more insightful and emotional scenes for 'chese' but I have to say that I did find it a little cheesy in places - but a little cheese never puts me off. I still found the message quite sincere if a little rose-tinted in places.

One thing I will say is that it also made me interested in rugby, think I will p*y a bit more attention when it comes on. 8.5/10.

I got tickets for my son and nephew in Nottingham and here's his review:

I very much enjoyed it. I'm not sure how politically (or sportingly) accurate it was but definitely a 'feel good' film. Took a little while to be convinced Morgan Freeman and Matt Damon were famous South Africans but once I got over that I thought it had some really strong themes.

I seen this in Cardiff - 90-95% full for a change.

Agree that Morgan Freeman was an excellent Mandela, and also felt that Damon was underused. Thought a bit more about Chester in the team / film wouldn't have gone amiss. There were laughs, poignant moments and bits that made you think.

The rugby was definitely 'film' rugby but shows that sport can bring people together.

(personally can't wait for the weekend when the 6 nations start up;)
Enjoyed the film 8/10

Brilliant!!! I'm really glad I saw this film and very good to see a packed out Glasgow.

I've been shouting about it to all my friends so let's hope Morgan Freeman is recognized for his immense portrayal of NM.

I found it completely inspiring and am still thinking about it now. (More than I can say for The Prophet...)

Word must have travelled - West India Quay was packed to the rafters tonight, several people turned round again as they couldn't find a seat. Went with 5rannoch who hadn't seen it before and thought it was very good. Still prefer Greenwich Picturehouse - at least people there don't talk that much or answer ringing mobiles!
