I never send Christmas cards, if that makes you feel better, ejwrank. So whenever you start yours, you'll beat me. ;)

I have those who I send to without fail. Others, I wait to see if they send me one, then I'll do one back!! But stamps are soooo expensive now!! 50p to send a card second class within the UK and even then, it has to be a small card!! Bah, Humbug!!!

ejwrank wrote:Well I fear I may have to stop reading Weight Watchers for not only do you folks do your best to eat properly but you also are so organised that you have already or are starting to write your Xmas cards!
And I'm looking at you Diane and Andrews and now biggins is doing the same. This is making me feel totally worthless and guilty as I know I won't start writing my cards until the week before Xmas no matter how hard I try. Is there any compensation as I have to write notes/letters in at least 40 of my cards as I refuse to send a copied letter?

Anyway, my congratulations to all you organised FMUKers. No doubt Diane has already also painted the neighbours' kitchen before she started on the second batch of pumpkin soup probably before I even got out of bed this morning. You all are amazing!
:bwl: You are so funny. It does take a lot longer when you have to add notes/letters and I too refuse to send copied letters but I do only send 3 (letters that is not Christmas cards) plus its a bit different to a work email when we tend to be rather to the point whereas with letters it comes from the heart.

They're not recruiting at the moment, but try to get on the RM survey panel one day: https://rmselfrecruit.research-int.com/ ... ivate.aspx

Do it for 6 months and you'll never want for stamps ever again... ;)

Well I didn't manage to get all of my Xmas cards written. :( It takes quite a bit of time to choose which card you are sending to the person as I always have a variety of cards. Some are more fun ones and others are more winter scenes, or charity ones with animals in snow etc. I also have a few that neeed a letter with them so that takes time. I have for a few years now produced sticky labels for the addresses which saves a lot of time.

I never used to write my cards until it was time to send them but one year I got the flu and was in bed for a few days and hubby had to write over a hundred cards (plus I didn't have address labels then) so he moaned that much that I vowed I wouldn't leave it so late in future in case it happened again!!

Some of our friends are now giving to charity instead of sending cards because of the cost and I have thought about it but it is the only contact we have now with some friends - plus at our age people know we are still alive if they get our Xmas card and we get a card from them!! :p

I too like different cards for different people and although I have always been fairly organised it was a sudden hospital admission a few years back (my heart went a bit mad) that has made me a bit paranoid about not being ahead of the game.

I was a bit better today eating wise but my sandwich was a rather large one and I still had a large slice of Parkin after my Good for You curry but haven't done any exercise as I went Christmas shopping instead - I know I have said that I'm on an economy drive but I have different pots of money for different things hence its my day to day money that I am being careful with. I'm really conscious that I am falling into bad habits eating and exercise wise especially as I'm going away on Thursday for 4 days and want to be able to eat what I want so really do need to get focused until then. I would have thought that after 7 months on the health regime that it would be second nature to me but as its getting a bit colder its so easy to overeat and get a bit lazy. I need to give myself a good talking to especially with the festive season approaching and I have had 4 skirts taken in so I don't want to have them taken out - just had a look at the sewing and the dressmaker has cut off the excess fabric so its not an option. :noo:

As I'm up bright and early and have a free day - I am going to do my exercise DVD before I have my breakfast and make use of the extra hour. I do feel quite stuffed still from the last 2 days of eating too much.

Menu of the day:
Smoothie with a banana and strawberries (300 calories)
French onion soup with 2 slices of wholemeal bread and a Weight watchers fromage frais (400 calories)
Vegetable chilli (not sure if its the one with celery and carrots or the butternut squash and turnips as got it out of the freezer and can't make out as yet which one it is) and brown rice (400 calories) weight watchers chocolate eclair (82 calories).
Apart from drinks I am determined not to eat anything else today.

What is everyone else up to today?

Going to see the Sapphires this morning and then over to Fife to my daughter's for a meal. Youngest granddaughter will be 8 on Tuesday so going today to see her as she will be at school on her birthday.

Bacon roll this morning and cup of tea. Cup of coffee and a yoghurt when I come back from the cinema and then probably a Sunday roast at my daughters.

Rather damp and miserable here today. :(

I saw The Sapphires today as well. No breakfast, but a really big lunch at an Indian restaurant as my OH and I had a rare shared day off. Had seared scallops, followed by monk fish tails in a thick tomato based sauce with plain rice, together with a little bit of naan bread and a couple of spoonfuls of mango brûlée. Not the healthiest of meals, but I think I chose the least bad options and stopped eating when I was full. Probably going to have soup and/or oatcakes for dinner later, to minimise the damage.

At least no snacking! Plus we did a lot of walking today in the bitter cold. Winter is definitely here - am going to have to b*y some gloves and warm shoes.
