Re: The Wolfman
You're saying that the version we will see has had 23 minutes butchered out of it? That means that we're pretty much not going to be able to follow the plot!

Re: The Wolfman
I went much earlier on in the year (i remember being frozen by the willow tree fountain) and don't remember seeing any mention of The Wolfman but, as you said, they made much more fuss over The Duchess as it was actually about the House. Has got me excited about the film now and can't wait to play spot the locations i've been to or recognise.elski wrote:Was that the exhibition last summer? they did have a bit about the wolfman in the last room, only a few pictures and a bit of a write up about it. Most of the rest of the exhibition was about The Duchess as it's so much more connected to the house & history.

Re: The Wolfman
so the 23 minutes is the difference between a 15 and 18?steve9872 wrote:You're saying that the version we will see has had 23 minutes butchered out of it? That means that we're pretty much not going to be able to follow the plot!
I suppose I should be relieved that it won't be as gory but at the same time why go to the expense of making this type of film and then cut so much out?

Re: The Wolfman
Heard a review of this on Radio 4 this evening, and it was not that positive.... I'm afraid I don't know the programme, but now they have pointed out the failings, I think the film might annoy me!
Maybe it will just be one film for me tomorrow!

Re: The Wolfman
The film running time is 1 hour 42 mins.
There isn't a second cut of the film with a longer running time, it was just a rumour that went around as they were cutting the original film. They've brought in Walter Murch to do the editing (one of the best editors around) so I would hope that the movie makes sense at its current running time.
As for gore and violence (as I know some people on here get very upset about violence in films) I'd warn anyone of a nervous disposition to steer clear of the film as I think it has an R rating in the U.S so it's probably going to be closer to an 18 than a true 15 and some early reports have said it is quite bloody in parts...
Hopefully that clears everything up!

Re: The Wolfman
Empire released their review today, 2 stars, apparently the tone is really weird.
Seen a few poor reviews, rather worried. (Why didn't they just release it back in 08?)

Re: The Wolfman
shame about 2 stars from Empire, although they gave Batman & Robin 3 stars, Heat 3 stars and AOTC 5 stars, so theres still hope. Seen some very good reviews, but 2 negative ones today, we'll see.

Re: The Wolfman
I can only assume that someone forgot to give Empire a proper advance screening or decent access to the stars of the film - that's normally how they work out what stars to give a film...

Re: The Wolfman
yeah, i read (prob in The Sun or something naff) that Empire downgraded Scooby Doo (ok, it wasnt the best film to begin with) because they were not invited to the premiere, someone on there staff admitted to it apparently.ciro22 wrote:I can only assume that someone forgot to give Empire a proper advance screening or decent access to the stars of the film - that's normally how they work out what stars to give a film...

Critic-bashing is dumb. There, I said it.
