Okay, here is my Mum's recipe for German pancakes! She usually serves them with ham and white asparagus:

Ingredients
200g flour (preferably half of it spelt wholemeal but wheat flour will do)
Up to half a teaspoon of salt
4 eggs
Milk
Sunflower Oil

Separate eggs. Beat egg whites and put in a cool place. Add egg yolks to flour and salt in a bowl, then add milk until dough can be easily mixed, it can be slightly liquid but not too much. Then let mixture rest for at least half an hour. Add the beaten egg whites and some more milk if necessary. Bake pancakes in hot fat (sun flower oil is best) in a cast iron pan. Turn pancakes. When baked, keep warm in oven at 100 degrees Celsius.

I'm going to a Champagne and Pancakes evening on Tuesday. Been twice before (one was a breakfast) and it's really quite good. Lots of yummy (and random) fillings, savoury at first... then the sweet...

No dinner for me that day!

It's a work contact that holds it annually. When I moved jobs I made sure they added my new details to their database! Can't be missing out on that one. I wish I could remember where I went to a breakfast seminar once - the food was awesome. Talk was not relevant for me it turned out, so incredibly dull, but the food had made up for it!

It's one of the few perks that we get invited to a bunch of these things - even seminars have canapes. Thanks to the credit crunch however, a lot of the summer and winter parties were cancelled, or at least scaled down

So do you have any similar events coming up anakin? My work place scaled down,so no teas or coffees or even biscuits!

There'd be a protest if there were not tea / coffees! I'd stop functioning! We still have those for staff and mineral water from a special tap. Some biscuits for client meetings and a posh coffee machine for clients too. Sandwiches aren't as good as they used to be if we have lunch meetings, but at least we still get them sometimes.

Bosses are quite good with cakes on special occasions such as upcoming weddings or even leavers etc. I thought they were quite generous with Christmas presents too. But it's up and down, much like in any business....
