I really enjoyed it, and I'm a big crime film fan.

Possibly worth noting that Grace Faraday didn't even exist in real-life. She was created solely to give the Jerry Wooters 'character' a romantic interest. Mickey Cohen's downfall in reality is completely different to how it happens in the film. He went to jail for tax evasion for a start.

Sorry I'll shut up about my issues with this film now

Let's remember this was never meant to be a factual documentary.

There are many films that are inspired by events or based on a true story that have very little to do with the original events and people.

I didn't know any of the information you posted before I saw the film and loved it. Now I have read the information you posted, it won't affect my enjoyment if I watch it again.

To use a cliche "whatever" ;)

I too found kevinknapman's review very interesting, but I'm also glad I didn't know all this before seeing the film.

It was a very movie type movie, glossy, one dimensional characters, some reviews have called it shallow, but ultimately for me very entertaining. Fine I guess unless you're playing fast and loose with people's life stories.

Out of interest anyone know how 'accurate' The Untouchables was to the real story? For me that's the film Gangster Squad most closely resembles,

Ha ha, Danny Leigh compares Gosling and Stone as two sad pandas at the opposite ends of a cage. :giggle:

I saw this tonight with my free Mars Sunday tickets.

It was just what I needed to take my mind off other things and think about nothing. It was a typical Hollywood gangster film with lots of shoot em up scenes. It was not the best but it was not bad either.

A good forget it all 2 hours.

7/10 from me.

Enjoyed this film as not something I would normally choose to see so pleasantly surprised and would recommend to others.

i am no authority on gangster films, after all the last one i really liked was Mobsters lol, but despite all the coments of style over substance i did enjoy this, i would go and see it again. perhaps just to look at gosling some more. i didnt b*y their chemistry in this (gostone as i call them) it's much better in crazy stupid love, which i've been watching quite a lot in the last week or so.

i love the style of this film in any case so if there is lacking in anything i still have something to go on
